Cherish Integrated Services (CHIS) is a registered non-profit incorporated in 2010. This organization was founded to provide services and support to promote social inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in their communities. Cherish is dedicated to providing systematic and holistic training programs with the concept of Structured Teaching as the core program model for the service recipients. We treasure and believe in the uniqueness and dignity of individuals, and aim to enhance their individual social functioning in daily living; help support them to live, work and actively participate in a wide range of daily activities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be responsible for a group of adult, and occasionally children and youth, trainees as their lead instructor
- Manage, plan and monitor the programs with critical analytical ability in order to enhance the quality of life and the independence in daily living of trainees.
- Design personal growth programs sensitively for the trainees with different ability levels and with different medical diagnoses.
- Provide and ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment for the trainees.
- Supervise trainees to manage their personal hygiene as independently as they can.
- Promote good communication with trainees’ families and or guardians.
- Provide crisis intervention for emergency situations.
- Deliver service with a good attitude, in a respectful, calm, and nonjudgmental manner.
- Knowledge of sensitivity and commitment to serving the special needs community.
- Prepare and make teaching materials to support or execute the program activities.
- Work as a team member to jointly deliver on organizational goals under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and the leadership of the Executive Director in line with the overarching goals of the organization.
- Prepare accurate and complete case notes and records, correspondences, reports and other written materials.
- Attend and participate in trainee-related case reviews and conferences.
- Support and supervise volunteers to be actively involved in the helping process.
- Attend and participate in supervisory sessions with the Program Supervisor or the Executive Director as scheduled.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Participate in any fundraising events or public events.
- Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency privacy and confidentiality policy.
- Perform other duties/assignments as assigned by the Program Supervisor and the Executive Director.

**Requirements**:

- Post-Secondary education completed in a relevant field such as Education, Social Work, Social Service, Recreation and Leisure, Psychology, etc.
- Must be fluent in English. Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin is an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in direct human service work
- Previous experience serving special needs clients in a professional setting preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs for purposes of arranging the centre for day to day needs (ex. tables and chairs) and physically supporting trainees while using mobility equipment
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid First Aid and CPR Training
- G license and access to a car for transporting clients is an asset

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week

Schedule:
