**Job Duties**
- The Indigenous Community Liaison plays a pivotal role in strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and other stakeholders while actively promoting Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Indigenous Student Success Strategy. This position ensures that Indigenous communities are well-informed about the institution’s initiatives, commitments, and resources aimed at enhancing Indigenous student success. The Indigenous Community Liaison will be directly responsible for the efficient planning, budgeting and implementation of the Community Awareness Plan to ensure the Indigenous community are aware of the Indigenous Student Success Strategy as well as Saskatchewan Polytechnic commitment to Indigenous student success. The position also develops, maintains and coordinates relationships and communications with Indigenous organizations that sponsor students to attend Saskatchewan Polytechnic. One main role is to ensure the community is aware of Indigenous Student Success Strategy and Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s commitment to Indigenous student success. The Indigenous Community Liaison plays a lead marketing and consulting role with various stakeholders within Saskatchewan Polytechnic, the Indigenous community, external agencies and businesses and the Saskatchewan Polytechnic External Indigenous Advisory committee.
- QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
**Specific Accountabilities**
- This position will take a leadership role in the development of a targeted Indigenous Student Success Strategy. Furthermore, this position will create and regularly update a financial information package regarding student sponsorship and funding for use by Saskatchewan Polytechnic personnel, students and funding agencies.
This position requires the Indigenous Community Liaison to participate as a team member in the continued development of Indigenous Student Success Strategy and travel extensively throughout the province and, at times, outside the province. The Indigenous Community Liaison requires an energy and approach that inspires confidence, commitment and enthusiasm for learning at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. This requires a positive attitude that is also an approachable and enthusiastic commitment to Saskatchewan Polytechnics Indigenous strategy in recruiting and retaining Indigenous students. The individual has extensive knowledge, history, and information including protocols of Indigenous people and history.- Develop, nurture, and coordinate relationships with Indigenous organizations sponsoring students to attend Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
- Conduct classroom presentations at high schools and adult basic education programs with a high population of Indigenous students.
- Promote the message that Saskatchewan Polytechnic is the first choice for furthering the education of Indigenous Peoples’, and a good place to send young adults, family and community members, thereby increasing the number of Indigenous students enrolled at SaskPolytech and increasing the community support of those students.
- Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of the Community Awareness Plan (CAP) to build awareness about Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Indigenous Student Success Strategy.
