**Come Make a Difference**
As a Student Financial Services Officer (“SFSO”), you will advise students in all aspects of their financial portfolio, while at Brock University. The SFSO will have a strong understanding of Registration, Student Accounts, Tuition and Fee Assessment, as well as Student Awards and Financial Aid, in order to provide fully-rounded support via one on one service to students. The SFSO will play a key role in the recruitment and retention of students through development and implementation of financial planning and guidance.

Reporting to the Manager, Student Financial Services and Accounts Receivable, this position will:
- Meet with students and related parties, as necessary, through personal appointments in person or through other electronic and non-electronic forms of communication to answer questions and provide guidance while maintaining all university Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) regulations and related University confidentiality information practices.
- Attend Open House and various University functions that may occur outside of regular business hours.
- Perform analytics and make recommendations on university financial programs that have a valuable impact to current and prospective students while facilitating University strategy.
- Evaluate and make decisions with respect to student financial need and make decisions to authorize and distribute loans and financial assistance to students in compliance with University approved budgets and policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Evaluate student accounts to determine if or how much credit may be awarded to the student in accordance with all policies and regulations. Process refunds to the student or NSLSC where applicable.
- Process loans and other financial transactions, external receivable invoicing, as well as performing collections for all receivables.
- Maintain detailed records and files on students with loans and ensure follow up on incomplete files.
- Process loans assist with loan appeals, academic progress reviews, and restrictions.
- Analyze financial data and report findings with recommendations, as assigned.

- A university degree or college diploma.
- Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience within higher education, specifically related to Student Registration, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts.
- Excellent financial acumen, including knowledge of budget and basic accounting.
- Strong tact, empathy, and ethical ability to advocate for students without bias.
- Ability to de-escalate tensions in high stress situations and provide guidance in a calm and professional manner.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with effective decision-making ability.
- Strong spreadsheet skills coupled with accurate data entry ability.
- Ability to work independently with considerable discretionary authority.
- Ability to understand and remain current with extensive, complex, frequently updated policies and regulations coupled with the ability to adapt easily to policy, process, and technological advancements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the proven ability to work in a high-volume environment where decisions are randomly inspected and audited.
- Strong judgement to determine the validity of OSAP reviews and understand the impact to student experience.
**Salary and Benefit Information**
- Job Group J - Administrative and Professional Staff.
- Salary Range $48,409 - $64,294 per annum*
- This position includes comprehensive benefits coverage, including tuition waiver.
