The Behavior Specialist will work closely with all teachers in the campus. They will be responsible for working specifically with children that have behavior issues in order to develop, master, and model the implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans for children.

**Essential Functions**:
Assists children with physical, social, and behavioral needs.
Delivers consultation services to parents, caregivers, teachers, and community specialists, and professionals regarding client progress and recommendations.
Carry a caseload of children for whom you will manage behavioral data, write IEP goals and objectives in related areas, write Behavior Intervention Plans, and ensure the implementation of those plans by classroom staff.
Respond to staff requests for assistance in managing difficult situations.
Ensures all licensing regulations are complied with at all times.
Assess difficult situations involving both individuals and groups and utilize necessary resources to de-escalate and/or defuse these situations.
Respond quickly and appropriately to crises, at times requiring the use of physical restraint, using the least restrictive intervention necessary to de-escalate the situation.
Demonstrate knowledge of human development, including understanding the factors that contribute to dysfunctional behavior.
Complete serious incident reports in a timely manner.
Maintains effective communications with parents.
Preserves confidentiality while communicating with parents and other departments about individual children and family needs and progress.

**Requirements/Education/Experience**:
Experience with accessing PUF funding, FSCD support, and other relevant support systems/agencies
Experience with planning and leading professional development opportunities for the staff
Completion of Early Childhood Education Certification required
Related training in the area of children with special needs
Minimum 1 year with integrated groups of pre-school aged children
Experience with special needs functional assessment, individual and group program design, and evaluation
Experience in the area of Behavior Management
Valid First Aid/CPR
Criminal record check/vulnerable sector check, within past 6 months (maybe obtained upon hire)
Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
Basic computer literacy
Ability to lift a min. of 40 lbs. especially when working with infants and toddlers
