The Student Association at BCIT is a leading non-profit student-led organization committed to enhancing student life through advocacy and providing student-centered, responsive, and pro-active services. Considered one of the leading student associations in the province, we live our mission and are student-focused in all that we do. Students lead our organization and govern the affairs of the BCITSA. Our Board of Directors is composed of 12 elected Student Executives and Student Councilors from each of the different Schools at BCIT.

**The Opportunity**:
The Career Specialist delivers innovative career services to BCIT students and alumni that adhere to the highest standard of career development practice. Incorporating BCITSA’s equity, diversity and inclusion values into their work and professional relationships, the Career Specialist is responsible for a portfolio including one or more BCIT schools and develops and maintains a schedule of services and events designed to meet the specific needs of students and alumni within these schools. Working through the lens of experiential learning theory, the Career Specialist facilities events and workshops, and conducts advising appointments with students and alumni. The career specialist maintains a network of employers and BCIT faculty, instructors and staff to develop and delivery services that support student career goals.

**What You Will Do**:
**STUDENT INTERACTION & CURRICULUM**:

- Contribute to the development and facilitation of the Career Development workshops series both online and face-to-face to encourage student career learning
- Provide tailored one-on-one and group learning opportunities for students within your assigned portfolio
- Contribute to the development of additional career development learning resources for students
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of curriculum, both generally and school-specific, within the face-to-face and online learning environments
- Create a sense of community amongst students, alumni, and employers and support student connection to the labour market by hosting various networking and learning opportunities
- Organize and lead career learning and networking events together in collaboration with the Event Supervisor
- Evaluate services to ensure effectiveness and that services continuously meet the goals of the department
- Integrate and become proficient in new technology for career education and program delivery

**CAREER DEVELOPMENT SERVICES & PROGRAMS**:

- Assess student and alumni employment readiness and job search needs, identify any potential employment barriers, and direct them to appropriate services
- Adapt services and programs to meet the needs of diverse student and alumni groups including but not limited to Indigenous students, international students, and students with disabilities
