**Position Summary**:
As a Human Resources (HR) Consultant, you provide employee and labour relations support, and attendance management services to St. Mary’s General Hospital’s management team. The HR Consultant strives to achieve optimal client service while fostering a positive environment in support of St. Mary’s Mission, Vision, Values and strategic direction.
**Position Requirements**:
- **Build and maintain collaborative relationships with associated unions (i.e, OPSEU, ONA, UNIFOR) as the lead labour relations contact for all collective agreement language, interpretation issues, and act as the hospital lead negotiator during bargaining.**:
- **Responsible for overseeing, managing, implementing, and continuously improving a component of SMGH employee relations programs (i.e., Attendance or Students).**:
- **Assists in workplace investigations, grievances, and researches past practices for most applicable solution.**:
- **Coaches leaders/managers to attend grievance meeting, arbitrations, and assists with employee performance management.**:
- **Prepares for and attends arbitrations and mediations with union leaders and managers and Negotiates Minutes of Settlement and Letters of Understanding.**:
- **Assists to promote a successful Accommodation/Return to Work process in conjunction with Employee Health and Wellness.**:
- **Lead managers through the disciplinary process, ensuring due process, union representation and clarification of the issues, desired outcomes as well as potential consequences.**:
- **Advises supervisors/managers levels through all HR related processes related to planning, staffing, performance management and employee and labour relations. This includes the day to day management of staff including but not limited to performance management, collective agreement compliance, recruitment and selection.**:
- **Ensures intra-departmental collaboration among various areas within the HR department including labour relations, recruitment and compensation.**:
- **When required, professionally coaches managers with aspects such as their responses to step 1 grievances; responds to step 2 grievances.**:
- **Business Partner with Managers on development and roll-out of new staffing/clinical initiatives.**:
- **Together with organization leaders/managers, develops innovative strategies for long term work design and organization, organization structure, staffing, training, etc.**:
- **Adapt communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with patients and their families, co-workers, physicians, volunteers and others within our health care community.**:
- **Demonstrate values and a commitment to foster a healthy, supportive work environment dedicated to delivering a high quality care experience though compassion, innovation and respect.**:
- **Support the recruiter to develop job postings based on job descriptions and in accordance with collective agreement requirements/Hospital policies; utilize the applicant tracking system (ATS) for the recruitment process.
**Position Requirements**:
- **Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or equivalent combination of related education and experience.**:
- **Recognized as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and hold a commitment to maintaining and pursuing continuing education, or designation currently in progress.**:
- **Minimum three (3) - five (5) years of progressive HR Generalist experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a multi-unionized environment with frontline and management employees.**:
