**About the Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Administrative Assistant (Secretary D) provides support to the managers within the Emergency Department at the Halifax Infirmary. The administrative support provided includes Human Resources functions which include creating job requisitions in Success Factors, coordinating the job competition process such as organizing skills testing and scheduling, setting up, and preparing for job interviews. The Secretary is responsible for the coordination of Performance Appraisal for all staff reporting to the managers. The Secretary will schedule all meetings for managers as well as make inquiries and gather information on behalf of the managers and staff. Other important duties include payment of invoices, petty cash transactions, purchasing of materials, maintaining records of staff licensure, and coordinating with IT, Engineering, outside contractors. In addition, the Secretary will respond to requests and inquiries and assist with manager, colleagues, and stakeholders on an as-needed basis.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Grade 12/GED
- One year office or business administration course
- Two years of experience in a clerical role
- Previous experience in an emergency department or acute care setting is preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook)
- Proficiency with Time Capture, Success Factors and SAP is preferred
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment preferred
- Financial statement reconciliation experience preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including formatting and proof-reading of large documents
- Self-directed; demonstrates initiative, accuracy, and efficiency
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Sound problem solving and decision-making skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

**Compensation and Incentives**:
$20.36- $23.14 hourly
