Kitchen Production Associate

Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 13 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Role: Reporting to the Supervisor, the Kitchen production associate - sushi outlet is responsible for assisting the Supervisor to do food preparation including but not limited to chopping, cutting, marinating and peeling at the assigned Sushi Outlet. S/he is also responsible for checking the quality/quantities of the receiving food products, carrying and storing the products received, ensuring the cleanliness of kitchen utensils, including tools, containers, clothes, towels, working and food storage areas.
- Major Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for the storage of food, both incoming stock
- 2. Responsible for preparing ingredients before cooking, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or cleaning seafood
- 3. Ensure proper receiving is done and food is stored in the appropriate conditions
- 4. Responsible for his or her own station, ensuring that all items are appropriately cleaned and ready for use before and after each shift
- 5. Ensure recipes, ingredient specifications, quantity, quality, cooking time as stated in the SOPs are being executed
- 6. Ensure the kitchen meets sanitation meets the required Food safety standards
- 7. Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness and FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
- 8. Ensure that food is properly stored and handled at all times by ensuring all temperature records are properly completed
- 9. Responsible for the cleanliness, hygiene, equipment and tools maintenance ; ensure garbage, recycled materials and other disposable items are handled timely and properly
- 10. Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior(s)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: 1. Possess knowledge, skills and prior experience in making Kitchen Deli products (Sushi, Rolls, Sashimi, Teriyaki and/or other Semi-finished Products)
2. Possess 1 to 3 years and/or above relevant experience
1. Possess knowledge in workplace health & safety and food safety (Food Safe Certification requires)
3. Good communication and customer service skills
4. Flexible to work in various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, morning and evening hours
5. Possess basic computer skills in MS Office
