Job Description

Need a Support Worker to work with a young adults with Autism in a Group

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor of Arts/ Psychology, Developmental Service Worker/Social Service Worker or equivalent, relevant experience.
- Significant experience providing individualized supports with persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Ability to speak fluent English and demonstrate comprehension and written communication skills is essential
- Demonstrated achievements in community connections and accessing community resources.
- Creative and responsive communication and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a high paced and high stressed environment.
- A First Aid/CPR Certificate, CPI certified.
- Good attendance, punctuality and flexibility as required meeting the needs of the people supported.
- A valid “G” class license, maintenance of an acceptable driving record, access to a reliable and insured vehicle.
- Ability to transport people supported in your vehicle is an asset.
- Knowledge in Arts, Drama, Yoga & Music are an asset.

**Day Program Facilitator Description**:

- Be punctual, responsible, and positive in attitude.
- The program facilitator will be responsible for the supervision and care of (up to) 6 participants with intellectual disabilities.
- Coordinate supports for people with intellectual disabilities to attain their chosen outcome goals, foster relationships, develop skills and enhance the quality of their lives.
- Build rapport with community organizations to create opportunities with participants to realize their aspirations, form connections and promote personal growth through volunteerism, job placement or educational opportunities.
- Plan and schedule weekly program activities in community settings and program location
- Carry out administrative duties including updating and maintaining budget and records on the group’s progress
- Purchase the necessary materials for the program from the program budget
- Supervise participants and work cooperatively with participants/family members to ensure the smooth operation of the program
- Coordinate and monitor procedures and practices to ensure health and safety for all.
- Any other duties as assigned.
