MRI is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist in molecular biology or relevant fields to join our team. We are looking for a teammate that is proficient at literature search, planning and executing experiments, and performing various molecular biology laboratory techniques.
The role will involve substantial literature review and bench work to develop and validate assays for cancer and other disease diagnoses. You will have the opportunity to actively contribute to and shape our research and product development direction. You will have the chance to work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to design and build products that will shape our healthcare.
- Duties and Responsibilities: _
- Working with mínimal supervision, perform comprehensive literature review relating to cancer diagnoses
- Critically analyze findings to draft scientific strategies and plans towards making practical and viable products
- Independently design and validate new assays towards early-stage cancer detection
- Perform primer and probe design, nucleic acid extraction and purification, qPCR amplification and other relevant duties as needed in bioanalytical assay development
- Acquire and interpret data to provide insightful findings that drive the direction of future research
- Write reports detailing protocols, functional and manufacture considerations, and other information relating to the assay development process
- Contribute original research and literature review presentations during group meetings
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to deliver results in different projects
- Skills and Qualifications: _
- PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, biomedical engineering or other related scientific fields
- Experience working on projects relating to nucleic acid and/or protein detection. Familiarity with PCR/qPCR-based detection and assay design/development is preferred
- Experience using CRISPR for disease diagnostic is an asset
- Ability to read, interpret, and critically analyze prior literature research and author technical procedures for experiments. General scientific writing and presentation skills required.
- Ability to independently lead and complete projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to details
- Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
**Salary**: $55,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
