The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for applying advanced analytical methodology to drive business decisions at STAPLES Canada. You will perform statistical analysis, build models, and leverage machine learning to solve complex business problems.As a senior contributor, you will directly collaborate with multiple teams to build models and leverage machine learning to solve complex business problems. This role will drive company profitability through customer personalization, product recommendations, and supply chain process optimization. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of business processes to mentor members of the team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help drive data technology decisions at one of Canada’s largest online retailers. Specifically, You Will: Lead the development of statistical and ML models, including research, model testing, debugging, monitoring, documentation, and maintenance. Proactively identify areas of the business where Machine Learning can make the most valuable impact across multiple teams. Architect a low-code/low-infrastructure ML/AI strategy on Google Cloud Platform. Establish scalable, efficient, and automated processes for large scale data ingestion. Present business intelligence and advise end users and senior leadership on model outputs. Provide quantitative research and analysis to identify process improvement. Develop dashboards and reporting in Looker and develop in LookML to support self-serve reporting. Advise and consult with other teams in the business who are looking to leverage ML/AI. Some of what you need: Post-secondary education is required. Previous hands‑on AI/ML experience required. Understanding of serverless computing concepts, ideally within Google Cloud Platform. Expert working knowledge of SQL, Python, and/or Node.js. Experience with data mining, cleansing, and ETL. Familiarity with the Segment customer data platform. 5-8 years of experience with big data technologies and machine learning.
