**Position**:Plasma Injector Research Technician
**Location**:Richmond, BC, Canada
General Fusion is transforming how the world is energized by working to develop the world’s first commercially-viable fusion power plant. Fusion will deliver clean, safe and on-demand power at industrial scale, providing a powerful complement to renewables and a pathway to a zero-emission grid.
General Fusion, Inc. is developing a patented, environmentally friendly, energy self-sustaining and economically attractive process to commercialize fusion energy. General Fusion’s technology is based on the compression of magnetized plasma targets using liquid metal liners and after over a decade of R&D, General Fusion is initiating a large-scale program for the construction of an integrated fusion prototype.
**Position Overview**:
The Plasma Injector Technician will provide support to General Fusion’s plasma injector laboratory and be part of a multidisciplinary engineering and research team. The technician will provide ongoing monitoring and maintenance of complex vacuum, pulse power, electrical and diagnostic systems and be a hands on participant in system upgrades.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Proactively contribute to a great work environment while championing safe work practices.
- Monitor and maintain vacuum pumps, vacuum gauges, leak detectors, RGA’s and related systems to ensure vacuum systems meet reliability and operational requirements.
- Inspect and maintain pulsed power mechanical connections, grounding, and safety systems.
- Specify and order parts and materials to support injector operations.
- Assemble and troubleshoot mechanical, vacuum, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Work with engineers and scientists to design, build, and execute small scale machine modifications.
- Work independently, while taking the initiative to gather necessary information from engineering and scientific staff.
**Relevant Skills and Experience**:
- Minimum 2-3 years in an R&D, lab or engineering environment
- Strong multi-disciplinary technical skills - with demonstrated experience in diagnosing, repairing and solving system/equipment challenges.
- Well-developed, and demonstrated, shop skills using tools such as drills, angle grinders, skill saws, soldering irons, etc.
- Experience and comfort working in a fast paced research and development environment.
- Hands-on interest in technology and fusion research.
- Experience with electrical equipment and vacuum systems
- An analytical thinker
- Passion for science, learning, working with talented people, and a drive to get results.
- It would be desirable to be fluent in SolidWorks.

**Salary**:$70,000 +
