OCAPDD is a learning organization and leader in the Developmental Services sector in Ontario, supporting over 900 people with developmental disabilities to successfully live in the communities of Ottawa & Cornwall. This support is provided by a dedicated team of over 650 employees. **KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**: Under the supervision of the Director, Operations and Asset Management, the Handyperson organizes and participates in the maintenance of the Association’s owned and rented buildings, equipment and property. The Handyperson implements preventive maintenance programs and oversees external maintenance related contracts. **DUTIES**: - Maintains and repairs the Association’s owned and rented buildings (in approximately 25 locations), equipment and property as identified by Program Directors and Supervisors. - Documents maintenance/repairs identified and/or completed during a regular shift. - Implements preventive maintenance programs. - Performs carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, drywall, tile, lock repairs, painting, window and door installation work. - Assists in the determination of specifications for Request for Proposals (RFP) and contracts. - Consults with contractors as required and submits reports to the Director, Operations and Asset Management for review and approval. - Maintains building, property, furnishings, supplies and equipment in safe condition and reports any unhealthy or unsafe condition to the Director, Operations and Asset Management, the Health and Safety Steward and/or the Program Supervisor for all OCAPDD locations. - Complies with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and with health and safety policies, procedures and practices, and exhibits a proactive attitude toward accident prevention. **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**: Possess a High School Diploma and five (5) years experience relevant to the job responsibilities. **COMPETENCIES**: - Effective oral, written and presentation skills. - Possess current certification in First Aid. - Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs (18 kgs). - Knowledge of Health and Safety (H&S) responsibilities, commitment to participate in health and safety activities and attend relevant Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training. - Knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment and of Microsoft Office Suite. - Possess a valid Class “G” driver’s license LINGUISTIC DESIGNATION: Unilingual English TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT : Permanent full-time bargaining unit position HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week AVAILABLE: Immediately LOCATION: Head Office: 229 Colonnade Rd., South and Various Program Locations COVID-19 considerations: Employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 **OCAPDD is an equal opportunity employer and we value the importance of diversity, dignity and worth of every individual in the workplace.
