Food Services plays a critical role in supporting patient care and overall health outcomes by providing high-quality, nutritious meals tailored to diverse dietary needs. Our department is composed of skilled professionals, including Dietary Aides and Cooks who ensure that patients, residents, and staff receive meals prepared with care and attention to quality standards.
**Position Overview**:
We are seeking an Assistant Manager to support day-to-day operations in the Food Services department. Reporting to the Manager, this role involves supervising staff, coordinating work assignments, and ensuring high-quality food services across designated areas, including in-patient, cafeteria, and catering services.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Supervising staff and managing resource planning, training, and performance evaluations.
- Overseeing menu planning and ensuring adherence to production, cost, and nutritional standards.
- Addressing operational and performance issues to maintain service quality.
- Collaborating with the Manager to implement best practices and process improvements.
- Assisting in budget monitoring and the development of policies and systems.
What You Bring:
**Education, Training and Experience**:
Diploma or Recognized Certification in a related field, plus five (5) years' recent, related experience in a large, institutional food services environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing at various levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance systems.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise.
- Ability to resolve issues in a customer service environment, tactfully and equitably, with mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations in a consistent and positive manner.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and dispute resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to effectively prioritize workload.
- Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
