Reporting to the Manager of Data Services, the Network Administrator is an integral member of the IP Engineering and Operations team. The Network Administrator is responsible for implementing and supporting Carrier Ethernet, IP telephony, video and internet services delivered on Eastlink’s Carrier Ethernet network. Working closely with other team members and peers throughout the organization, the Network Administrator will work to ensure that services are delivered as per Eastlink’s engineering standards and that the highest level of service is provided to Eastlink’s customers.
**Key responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Deploy and support various network elements including MPLS routers, switches and customer networks;
- Configure new L2 and L3 services across Eastlink’s Carrier Ethernet network;
- Plan and perform routine maintenance on the network elements;
- Plan and participate in various network implementation or upgrade projects;
- Play an active role in automating the deployment of network elements and network services;
- Develop and maintain documentation;
- Respond to technical support requests from internal contacts and analyze complex technical issues;
- Keep the management team abreast of key issues and provide actionable plans to combat network performance issues;
- May be required to interface with customers (internal and external) for pre-sales and post-sales support as required;
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a large enterprise or service provider environment;
- Cisco CCNP / CCIE certification would be considered an asset;
- In depth knowledge of IP protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, Multicast) and QoS mechanisms
- Knowledge of MEF Carrier Ethernet services and service definitions;
- Proficient in the Linux operating environment;
- Working knowledge of one or more of the following scripting languages: Python, Perl;
- Some experience with automation/orchestration while using tools such as Ansible, Python API, etc ;
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Ability to perform work in maintenance windows and participate on the departmental on-call rotation.
