The Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association is a non-profit organization that provides a diverse range of culturally safe and supportive services to Indigenous People residing in the Fraser Region. As a Friendship Center, we work to strengthen connections to culture, community and wellness and work from a decolonizing perspective. The City of Surrey is one of 21 municipalities in Metro Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. We are located on the Lower Mainland on the south side of the Fraser River and share a border with the United States of America. **Program Objective**:
To provide culturally sensitive support, education, trauma-informed care, and healing for survivors and families affected by the Sixties Scoop, addressing intergenerational trauma through a blend of Indigenous knowledge and contemporary therapeutic techniques.

**Positions Overview**:
**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Deliver counselling services to Indigenous community members, incorporating a deep understanding of the impacts of intergenerational trauma, specifically related to the 60’s Scoop.
- Participate in regular supervision sessions as outlined in your contract, to ensure professional development and maintain high standards of care.
- Collaborate with other professionals and stakeholders within the health authority and Indigenous communities to optimize client care.
- Develop and implement individualized and group treatment plans that address emotional, mental, and psychological needs, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), or Exposure Therapy (training in these areas is considered an asset).
- Create and deliver educational materials for clients, families, and healthcare professionals, using effective educational strategies and knowledge translation methods.
- Maintain thorough documentation of client sessions and treatment outcomes, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to organizational policies.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Must be a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)or possess a combination of education and experience relevant to the position, particularly with a strong background in working with Indigenous communities.
- Training or experience in CBT, DBT, or Exposure Therapy is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to create educational materials, design education strategies, and translate knowledge into practice, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required, as local travel within the Surrey geographic area may be needed to provide services or attend meetings.
