The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry) is a charitable organization that supports women,
girls, and children at risk, involved in or affected by the justice system. Our programs work to break the
cycle of poverty, addiction, mental illness, homelessness, and crime.

**We are recruiting a permanent Clinical Counsellor for Ellendale & Cradle.**Located in Surrey, Ellendale
and Cradle workers support women with substance use issues to live in a communal full-time live-in
structured stabilization and transitional living residence in Surrey. The Clinical Counsellor is responsible
for assessment, treatment planning, providing individual clinical counselling, outcome assessment,
therapeutic group facilitation, linkage with community resources, transition planning, and supporting
program delivery. The program has two streams comprised of up to 10 women who may reside for 3-5
months; and 7 pregnant or newly parenting women and their babies who may reside for up to eight
months.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Conducts assessment of clients’ needs, gathering case history, cognitive, emotional and behavioural

issues. Identifies goals of service
- Develops and implements therapeutic plans and programs necessary to meet client goals and

objectives. Provides individual and group counselling interventions to address identified plans. May

use specific therapeutic techniques depending on client type e.g. CBT, DBT, motivational

enhancement therapy, family systems therapy, and arranging traditional Indigenous therapeutic

techniques.
- Provides follow up support to clients after the end of therapy treatment. Advises other professionals

involved with clients’ case where further evaluation or more intensive treatment is required
- Maintains knowledge of community resources and provides appropriate referrals to clients to meet

their needs.
- May formulate and facilitate therapeutic and support groups in program areas for clients and/or their

families.
- Provides consultation to those working with client cases i.e. social workers, probation officers, other

organization staff, other professionals.
- Provides full and accurate reports on clients’ behaviour and progress. Maintains clinical records

sufficient to indicate the nature and time of treatment. Ensures all required documentation is

accurate and complete. Maintains strict confidentiality of information.
- Participates in staff training sessions and public education forums, seminars and conferences relevant

to specific program areas. May engage in prevention activities involving networking, consultation,

public relations, etc.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Master’s degree in an Allied Health Discipline (eg Social Work, clinical or counselling psychology

from a recognized program).
- Eligible for registration with a professional or regulatory body (eg BCACC, BCCSW, BCCP)
- Three (3) years recent related experience in substance use and mental health setting, or an equivalent

combination of training, education, and experience.
- Direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated

working knowledge of community-based programs and related provincial and community support
services systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant formal counselling and assessment techniques.
- Experience working in a licensed facility is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5) with satisfactory driving record, an asset.

**MANDATORY JOB REIREMENTS**:

- Food Safe Level 1.
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C.
- Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status.
- Evidence of a Tuberculosis Test and compliance with the TB Control Program.
- Doctor’s Note of fitness required.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Review (Vulnerable Sector Search).
- This position requires union membership.
