As part of the Ministry of Health’s initiative to modernize the health care system, Ontario Health has launched the Provincial Genetics Program (PGP) to ensure the provision of comprehensive, coordinated, evidence based genetic services for Ontarians. For this purpose, the PGP collaborates extensively with other Ontario Health programs such as the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Program, as well as external stakeholders (e.g. clinicians, administrators, etc.) across the province.

The Analyst position is an exciting and dynamic opportunity to support the development and implementation of various PGP initiatives. This role will involve research and analysis to understand the current state of genetic testing as well as to support the development of key performance indicators for system-wide evaluation. The Analyst will also provide project, program, and operational support as required by the PGP.

Here is what you will be doing:
- Analysis of the current state of Ontario’s clinical/laboratory guidelines/practices for genetic services- Conduct literature searches, environmental scans and needs assessments, summarizing content in a variety of formats dependent upon audience need- Work with the Sr. Specialist to analyze data from various data sources to inform the development of evidence-based guidance documents- Work with the team to develop and evaluate key performance indicators- Horizon scanning to identify and appraise emerging genetics technologies and practices- Facilitate all aspects of projects such as identifying and concisely communicating with relevant stakeholders, minute-taking, driving agendas, and providing input in collaborative settings- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with key internal and external partners including governance bodies’ members, clinical leads, clinicians, administrative assistants and others- Manage incoming inquiries and triage requests as required. Ensure that matters are handled in a timely, accurate and strictly confidential fashion-
- Assist in the collection and compilation of required information to support the development and tracking of project/program/operational plans as directed.- Coordinate program activities, including working with committees and project teams to monitor tasks, milestones, and expenses.- Provide support in establishing, mapping, and communicating processes- Perform other related duties as required

Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience- An undergraduate degree in health administration, health sciences, health services research, public administration or associated field or recognized equivalent; a graduate degree in either Public Health or Health Sciences is an asset- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of related work experience- Experience conducting systematic reviews and developing guidelines is an asset- Experience with healthcare datasets is an asset

Knowledge and Skills- An understanding of Ontario’s healthcare system with particular emphasis on genetic testing and/or clinical genetics services is an asset- Ability to prioritize and manage several projects in a cross-functional team environment and to respond quickly based on timelines and project plans- Excellent written and oral communication skills; including the ability to prepare briefing notes, reports, evidence summaries etc.- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Outlook; experience with Project and/or SharePoint would be an asset- Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently and interact across all levels of an organization- Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility, and respect- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; responsible and highly motivated
