**ABOUT DURHAM REGION NON-PROFIT HOUSING CORPORATION**:
Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation (DRNPHC) is a social, community and affordable housing provider in the Region of Durham providing homes to tenants with low and moderate-incomes in approximately 1,200 affordable rental units throughout 17 residential properties. Our portfolio includes multiple mid-rise and low-rise apartments and townhouse complexes throughout the Region.

DRNPHC is looking for a full-time **Community Support Worker **for a one (1) year contract period**.**

Funding is secured for this role for one (1) year and it is expected to move to a permanent funding stream thereafter dependent on the results of the pilot program.

DRNPHC is piloting a new program to address complex resident issues in advance of them becoming an issue. This is an innovative pilot that is expected to provide a validated model for other community housing providers to follow in our Region.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation is seeking multiple highly motivated individuals for a Community Support Worker position. As a member of the Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation’s (DRNPHC) team, the Community Support Worker is accountable directly to the Manager, Tenant and Housing Services.

The Community Support Worker will provide on-site, community-based supports for tenants residing in Durham Region Non-Profit community housing locations. From a holistic, person-centered, goals-based approach, the Community Support Worker will work with the tenants and their families to identify needs and goals. The Community Support Worker will offer a range of intensive supports and services to meet individual needs/goals of tenants, and their families, to help ensure successful tenancy, and positive psycho-social outcomes within their home DRNPHC location and community. The Community Support Worker will operate from a critical, trauma informed lens, including Anti-Black racism, Anti-Oppressive practice, and a demonstrated understanding of colonialism and its inter-generational effects on black, racialized and indigenous communities.

**CANDIDATE PROFILE**:
The person in this role will have a background experience in Mental Health and Addictions
- Diploma or Degree from an accredited College or University in Mental Health and Addictions
- Minimum 3-5 years directly related working experience in Mental Health, Addictions, Social Housing or Homelessness
- Some experience and/or education in gerontology an asset
- Experience working with multicultural individuals is an asset
- Training and experience in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, mediation, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training.
- Experience in goal setting, service planning and needs assessments
- Able to run various groups/activities for various age ranges
- Community worker safety training ideal
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
