**Job Summary**
Reporting to the Superintendent of Leadership Development and School Support Services, through the Coordinating Principal of International Education, and Coordinator, We Welcome the World Centres, you’ll provide culturally and linguistically specific settlement, referral and counselling support services to students and parents in our schools and at the We Welcome the World Centres. In so doing, your goal will be to ensure that newcomer families are aware of, and enabled to access, the full array of community and school services. Leveraging your knowledge of the education system and community resources, you’ll identify common trends and needs within the Board's student visa community, and work closely with WWTW Centre staff, Peel Board staff, Multicultural Settlement and Education Partnership (MSEP) settlement workers, partnering agencies and other community service providers, as well as teachers and/or principals, to better meet those needs.

**Key Responsibilities**
You will conduct needs assessments to gather information on settlement needs of parents and students that are new to Peel Board; provide information, referrals and support related to settlement; provide short term counselling and crisis intervention as needed in family’s first language; provide support at school related events; create and maintain client files; input data pertaining to one on one sessions, parent workshops, information sessions and school activities on Student Information System (SIS), Master Client List, collect immigration documents for the purpose of completing Federal reporting system (ICARE); school and community liaising; assist students and parents to connect with the school and surrounding community services; work in partnership with school staff to increase newcomer parent engagement at the schools; communicate student and parent questions and concerns to Peel District School Board and other service providing organizations; provide workshop and group facilitation and gather evaluation forms; facilitate supportive group sessions in schools for students and parents; translate outgoing parent communication materials, in parents’ first language.

**Qualifications**
- Diploma/degree in Social Work or a related field
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in settlement work or community work
- Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Effective English language communication skills; both oral and written
- Working knowledge of the education system and community resources in Peel
- Ability to work with a team
- Ability to work with school personnel in meeting the needs of newcomer students and their families
- Must have access to a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license
- Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment
