**Duties & Responsibilities**:
1. Outreach to newcomer families and youth to provide settlement services in schools
2. Conduct needs assessment to identify immediate, intermediate and long term settlement needs
3. Provide newcomer families and youth with settlement information and referrals to community services and educational resources based on their specific needs
4. Conduct information and orientation sessions for newcomer families to understand the school system, Canadian society, culture, laws and other aspects of life in Canada.
5. Maintains up to date client and service records and ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of client information
6. Provide information to school staff with cultural sensitivities and the needs of newcomer families
7. Promote NCP programs and other community services in schools
8. Submit statistical and service reports to SWIS Program Manager as required
9. Enhance professional growth through attendance at professional development sessions, workshops and conferences.
10. Keep updated with changes of policies and resources
11. Attend meetings as required
12. Carry out any other duties as determined by SWIS Program Manager
Qualifications & Requirements
1. Post-secondary education in social work, psychology, settlement or related field
2. Minimum of one year experience in assisting newcomers with settlement issues
3. Extensive knowledge of immigration system, school system and community resources
4. Current knowledge of legislation, policies and practices affecting newcomers
5. Good workshop facilitation, presentation and public speaking skills
6. Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills to work with newcomer youth, parents and school staff with intercultural sensitivity
7. Being Knowledgeable on issues related to immigrant and refugee communities
8. Good organizational and self-management skills
9. Ability to multi-task while maintaining high degree of accuracy in case management and data collection
10. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a team environment
11. Good computer skills and knowledge of social media
12. Valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a vehicle

**Other qualifications**:
1. Capable to conduct broad based search of community and government resources for client referrals
2. Strong interpersonal skills to work with newcomers with diverse background
3. Flexibility and adaptability in meeting the needs of clients
4. Passionate for high work standard and ethics to achieve organizational goals.
