**ABOUT THE POSITION**

The Intern - Assistant Conference Coordinator (IACC) reports to an Event Manager (EM) and supports the work of various conference planning team members.

This is a junior position, suited for someone starting their career and wanting to try event planning, a post secondary student taking a gap year, or for a 3rd or 4th year coop student looking to gain some office work experience. This position is in-office, at our Edmonton headquarters.

You will assist project teams by organizing speakers, sponsors and registrations; tracking travel, accommodation and other arrangements; purchasing supplies; preparing nametags and materials; assisting with event promotion; assisting with virtual meetings, and other aspects of the conferences and services that BUKSA manages. Logistical details and administrative support will be your primary responsibility.

Some administrative or events experience is preferred but not necessary. Communication skills, time management and team focus are key skills of the IACC. The IACC enjoys working with people in person and virtually, has excellent writing ability, and thrives in a fast‐paced environment where many projects are being planned simultaneously.

**SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Ease of use with MS Excel, and organizing information
- Technical competence in platforms such as Zoom, sli.do, Survey Monkey, Squarespace, and other virtual conference platforms considered an asset.
- Office experience or experience in the events or hotel industry considered an asset.
- Ability to actively and consistently represent BUKSA’s values and goals.
- Some travel required; some evening and weekend work may be required, with notice.
- Reliable transportation to work required.

**Location & Hours**:This position will work in our Edmonton office. Regular office hours are 8:30am to 5pm MT Monday through Friday. Some flexibility in setting the specific hours of work can be negotiated

**Compensation**: $19-21/hour
