Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is a unique Indigenous Institute, recognized by community, government, and institutions of higher learning, as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Knowledge. SNP offers postsecondary, secondary, trades education and training. SNP has formal partnerships with nine publicly funded Ontario Universities and Colleges and collaborates with six Ontario-based Indigenous owned and controlled post-secondary Institutes.

**Function & Overview**

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Organizational Development, the Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and support on human resources areas such as employee relations, organizational development, and learning and development. The HR Manager will oversee the design and implementation of HR policies, programs and practices and monitor them to ensure efficiency and alignment with organizational objectives. The Human Resources Manager is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).

**Duties**

The duties of the Human Resources Manager include, without limitation:
**Workforce Planning and Employment**
- In collaboration with Management and the HR team, monitoring staffing needs and succession gaps for designated units and develop appropriate recruitment and succession planning strategies;
- Conducting an annual review of the compensation program to ensure consistency with market data and make recommendations for annual salary budgeting, as required;
- Overseeing the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and procedures, and ensure compliance with applicable Employment and Human Rights legislation;

**Organizational Development & Strategic Planning**
- In collaboration with the HR team, developing short
- and long-term planning objectives in alignment with the organization’s mission and values;
- Overseeing the design and implementation of practices, systems, and techniques that contribute to positive organizational change;
- Designing and implementing mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of HR functions;
- Overseeing the forecasting for HR resources and ensure alignment with organizational demands;

**Learning and Development**
- Gathering feedback from Management for the design and implementation of the performance review process;
- Providing guidance and coaching to supervisors on performance-related matters, and refer them to appropriate policies and resources as required;
- In line with organizational priorities, providing oversight over the design of the professional development program and ensure compliance with SNP’s policies and processes;
- Designing and implementing resources, training programs, and services to encourage professional growth for employees;

**Employee Relations & Engagement**
- Providing guidance and support to Management on matters related to employee relations and refer them to appropriate policies and procedures;
- Developing and implementing training and support resources for the HR and Management teams in connection with workplace conflict resolution;
- Collaborating with outside counsel on matters related to workplace investigations and discipline when required;
- Ensuring that employee engagement activities and programs are developed according to SNP’s mission and values and in a climate free of discrimination, violence and harassment;
- Designing and implementing employee rewards and recognition programs;

**Health and Safety**
- Overseeing the development and implementation of health & safety training programs, policies and procedures in compliance with provincial and federal legislation;
- Developing and distributing reports to employees, Management, SNP’s Board of Directors and regulatory bodies;

**General Administration & Leadership**
- Overseeing the effective administration of employee leaves of absence, and monitor STD, LTD, and WSIB claims;
- Promoting and administering EAP programs;
- Supervising and managing the performance of HR staff and ensure operational excellence;
- Managing the annual budget planning process for the HR Unit;
- Providing support and guidance to internal and cross-unit committees and working groups, as well as the Senior Management Team on HR and leadership practices;
- Developing and distributing relevant HR reports to employees, Senior Management, SNP Board of Directors, and regulatory bodies;
- In collaboration with the HR team, reviewing, updating and maintaining personnel policies;
- Maintaining documentation for proper governmental reporting and compliance;
- Monitoring and maintaining accurate and complete employee records and files; and
