BGC East Scarborough is actively recruiting a Youth Program Facilitator. The Youth Program Facilitator is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of quality interactive programs for youth ages 13 -21 years. The incumbent shall support participants on an individual basis through referrals and linkage to friendly professionals who are available to support youth and also, by informing youth about community resources so they have access to additional supports when needed.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Youth Programs & Community Services.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Interact with a diverse community of youth in both group and individual settings
- Provide opportunities for youth to be challenged physically, cognitively and emotionally in a safe, positive supporting environment
- Able to liaise with current community contacts and seek new partnerships for specific program needs
- Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of new program ideas
- Plan, implement, and facilitate age appropriate workshop/ small group forums, recreational, and social activities for youth ages 13-18.
- Provide quality program which will foster a sense of direction, purpose and community for youth 13-18 in the East Scarborough area
- Enhance and modify programs/activities/services as applicable by assessing the community and participants’ needs and interests.
- Able to build a cohesive group of youth that are program members; working towards consistent youth participation.
- Able to consider and accept opinions of others while expressing own expertise and effectively utilizing relevant resources
- Work in collaboration with youth program staff to develop and implement a marketing plan to recruit participants for the program
- Consistently collaborate with team members, sharing ideas and differences openly
- Take a proactive approach to potential problem, and create opportunities for positive change
- Conduct individual assessments and provide feedback to both youth and parents/guardians where required
- Responsible for recording night program and club attendance
- Maintain daily, weekly and goal action plans detailing program developments and outcomes
- Assist with the set up, delivery and clean up of program areas
- Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with co-workers, members, and community partners
- Depending on program needs, staff may be required to attend offsite locations and trips with youth
- Responsible for engaging and assisting youth in completing membership packages
- Complete other duties as assigned

**Key Qualifications**:

- Pursuing a CYW, SSW, ECE, Recreation and Leisure or related diploma/certificate
- Possess 2 years working or volunteering with youth and have a desire to learn
- Experience working with underserved youth from an anti-oppressive framework
- Excellent crisis management and conflict resolution skills; life skills coaching; group facilitation and team leadership skills
- Demonstrated experience working with youth from various cultural, ethnic, social-economic and developmental backgrounds
- Must possess excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Hold a valid CPR/First Aid Certificate
- High Five Certification or willing to obtain certification prior to employment
- Individuals who are enthusiastic, energetic with creative program planning skills
- Genuine interest in working with youth between the ages of 13-18 years and a clear understanding of the characteristics of youth
- Strong leadership skills, programming skills, time management, and youth management skills
- Demonstrate ability to work in a fast paced, team environment
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must be a self-starter and able to work with mínimal supervision

**Job Code**: YPF2025 **Contract period**:One Year

Pay: $17.14-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
