The City of Edmonton selected Marigold Infrastructure Partners to design and build the 14-kilometre Valley Line West LRT project from downtown to Lewis Farms. Construction has begun and will take five to six years to complete.
Marigold is a design-build joint venture agreement between Colasand Parsons
**Summary**: The Assistant Environmental Manager is responsible for oversight of or assistance with all environmental matters and ensuring conformance to all applicable requirements. The Assistant Environmental Manager shall be directly responsible for and fully engaged in the duties listed below, per the Project Agreement:
(8) be an employee of, or an independent contractor directly engaged by, Project Co, an Affiliate of Project Co or a Project Contractor; (9) have current registration with appropriate governing body such as Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIA), Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB), Association of the Chemical Profession of Alberta (ACPA), Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals in Alberta (ASET), or College of Alberta Professional Foresters (CAPF); (10) have a bachelor degree or a higher degree in an appropriate field, such as biology, ecology, environmental science, environmental engineering or natural resources management; (11) have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in project management and environmental management, including two years of experience with major projects in urban settings; (12) have a minimum of two years’ experience acting as an environmental manager or environmental lead or equivalent position on at least one linear infrastructure project in North America involving a design-build and having an estimated capital cost of at least $150 million; 18 Edmonton Valley Line West LRT Project Agreement - Execution Version Schedule 26 - Representatives and Key Individuals (13) have experience with developing or auditing ISO 14001 environmental management systems and environmental construction operations plans prepared under the ECO Plan Framework, or equivalent tool, on a major infrastructure project; (14) have a minimum of two years’ experience in environmental conformance and compliance auditing on major linear infrastructure projects; and (15) be reasonably able to commit for the duration of the Project
**Responsibilities**:
- Implementing the ECO Plan and coordinating the Environmental Team and subcontractors engaged for environmental support of the ECO Plan
- Communicating with the MIP Construction Team and Environmental Monitors on an ongoing basis for issues encountered during implementation of the ECO Plan
- Reviewing records and reports generated in accordance with the ECO Plan; reviewing environmental documentation (e.g. monitoring reports, incident reports, etc) to monitor compliance with environmental requirements and procedures outlined in the ECO Plan
- Reviewing and suggesting amendments to the ECO Plan as required
- Liaising with MIP Communications Team for activities/ tasks that require public notification
- Has the authority to stop Project Work if any environmental monitoring, inspection, or audit indicates that the Project Work does not comply with any of MIP’s Environmental Obligations.
- Ensuring that MIP and all personnel and subcontractors, suppliers, comply with MIP’s Environmental Obligations.
- Oversight of or assistance in directing all aspects of MIP’s ECO Plan, including the development and implementation of all plans and procedures required to ensure such compliance and to monitor and verify such compliance.
- Overseeing and assisting in the environmental auditing program as required.
- Ensuring that all reports required under the Project Agreement with respect to compliance with MIP’s Environmental Obligations are prepared and delivered as required; and
- Be present at all Sites a sufficient amount of time to demonstrate to the City’s satisfaction a working knowledge of the on-Site work, the status of the Project Work and all environmental issues and conditions associated with the Project, the Project Work, the Infrastructure and the Lands; and
- At all times throughout the Construction Period, be available to fulfill the full extent of his or her role and be reasonably available to meet in-person with the City’s Representative.
