Reporting to the Director of Strategic Policy, Evaluation and Legislation the Policy and Legislative Analyst provides high quality advice and assistance regarding policy, and legislative development, implementation, and evaluation processes related to the Department’s priorities and projects. The position is also responsible for research, strategic planning, data analysis, and project management. The position has a high level of responsibility and considerable accountability for project oversight and providing advice to the Department’s senior officials.

**Duties will include but are not limited to**:

- Provide high quality support by assisting in the preparation of Treasury Board and Executive Council Memorandum, briefing notes, correspondence, speaking notes, presentations, and other materials as requested.
- Analyze the potential impacts of proposed policies or legislation on internal/external parties, the economy, or specific industries.
- Assist in the development and coordination of strategic and operational planning for the Division and the Department.
- Provide strategic advice to the Division’s Director, Departmental Directors, and the Deputy Minister.
- Provide assistance to the Deputy Minister, Division’s Director, and Departmental Directors as required in carrying out the duties of the Department and Division.
- Other related duties as required.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in humanities, social sciences, law/paralegal studies, or related field.
- Law courses at a post-secondary level.
- Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered.
- Extensive experience in policy and/or program development, analysis, and implementation.
- Considerable experience in research and report writing.
- Considerable experience in project management.
- Experience in legislative development, interpretation, and analysis.
- Experience with internal/external engagement.
- Experience writing official documents, such as Treasury Board and Executive Council Memorandums.
- Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered.
- Excellent writing, oral communication, analytical, and listening skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, conflict resolution, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently in a creative and innovative manner and ability to think and plan strategically.

**Other Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Leadership experience and/or training.
- Project management training.
- Coursework in public policy, public administration, and/or law.
