We are looking for a Carpenter and/or Skilled Labourer to assist with Warranty and Service projects. This person will be reporting to the Warranty and Service Coordinator and will primarily be responsible for assisting with Warranty and Service related projects. When not assigned to any warranty and service jobs, this individual will be placed on a project site. The primary responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
**Responsibilities**:
- Completing various aspects of service and warranty construction including:
- Concrete, Framing, Finish Carpentry, Doors and Hardware, Steel Studs, Drywall, ACT, and Miscellaneous metals and flashing, and other scopes of work.
- Transport small tools as required to project sites.
- Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements.
- Take measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed.
- Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other materials according to measurements.
- Lay out floorings, roofing or walls ensuring they are leveled and compatible.
- Move materials around worksite and ensuring all tools, machinery, and other equipment are safely set up.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Support Warranty and Service Coordinator as needed.
- Attending to warranty and service calls from clients as needed.
- Miscellaneous Formwork and Concrete Reinforcement.
- Miscellaneous Subgrade Insulation.
- Excavation, Backfill and Compaction.
- Temporary Hoarding and Fencing.
- Miscellaneous Concrete Work Including Placement.
- General cleanup.
- Implement, follow and maintain site safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required
What We Are Looking For
- Proven construction experience as a carpenter, or labourer in the required scopes of work listed above.
- Experience in various areas of interior and exterior finishing.
- Valid drivers license (class 5) and reliable vehicle for commuting between project sites. Class 3 license considered an asset.
- Good Physical Condition and able to twist and bend, and perform repetitive type movements.
- Able to push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Able to work at heights.
- Able to read and review technical documents and drawings including project plans and specifications.
- Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
- Able to work independently as well as within a team environment and help others as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel and work evenings, and weekends as required.
- Successful completion of various security clearances and ability to handle confidential information.
- Extensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work and willingness to always follow safety guidelines.
- Tech savvy, with proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Bluebeam (or other PDF software)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Good understanding of basic math.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service focused mindset.
