POSITION OVERVIEW
The Legal Counsel, Corporate Functions, supports the Assistant Vice President, Legal Affairs by handling all legal matters related to BDC's corporate functions. The incumbent provides high quality legal services and advice to internal partners such as Information Technology, Procurement, Human Resources, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Marketing, Public Affairs and Real Estate.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET- Work with various internal partner teams to provide timely, clear, practical legal advice on various projects- Conduct research on various legal issues, including federal labor law-
- Participate in the service provider risk management program by assessing and mitigating enterprise contractual risks- Analyze, interpret, draft, review and negotiate various types of contractual agreements, including Information Technology contractual agreements such as: SAAS, PAAS and IAAS; software licenses and managed services, as well as procurement contractual agreements for professional services, corporate services and partnerships- In collaboration with the compliance team, conduct legislative monitoring, interpret and confirm the applicability of various laws to BDC- Collaborate in the drafting of various internal governance documents- Support the Access to Information Office in the administration of the

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- University degree in law- Between 3 and 5 years of relevant experience in commercial and transactional law in business or private practice- Experience in information technology and labour law will be considered an asset- Member of the Quebec Bar or equivalent from any Canadian province- Knowledge and mastery of research tools- Highly collaborative and strong interpersonal skills- Able to quickly gain credibility with business partners- Be proactive in your work environment- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills- Bilingualism in speaking and writing (English and French)
