Front End Supervisor

**Job Purpose**

The Front End Supervisor is responsible for delivering and ensuring prompt, friendly, courteous customer service. Supervisors are to ensure accurate cash handling and security protocols are followed. Supervisors are to participate in the training of new and existing staff, while participating in the maintenance of the Front End operations.

**Customer Service & Cashier Responsibilities**:

- Smile, greet, and engage with every customer that comes to your work area
- Assist customers with questions in a prompt, friendly, courteous manner
- Help customers place and collect special orders
- Report customer suggestions, comments, and complaints utilizing the appropriate forms
- Check out customers accurately and efficiently using barcodes and PLU codes
- Receive payments and accurately handle money in and out
- Bag customers' purchases and ask if they need assistance getting to their vehicles
- Process refunds and exchanges to customers as needed according to store policy
- Understand the point-of-sales (POS) system and troubleshoot as needed
- Maintain front end by keeping area clean, organized and stocked with supplies
- Take and route phone calls appropriately

**Leadership & Training**
- Maintain daily break schedule
- Reallocate team members if the store is slow
- Delegate tasks to ensure the department is operating efficiently
- Facilitate on-the-job training for new and existing employees
- Participate in the development of on-the-job training modules and tools
- Participate in the evaluation of team members (providing feedback to the Front End Manager)

**Department Maintenance & Other**
- Ensure that department signage is put up and taken down as needed
- Ensure the front entrance and walkway are swept and/or shoveled/salted appropriately
- Ensure front end display areas are properly merchandised and cleaned
- Ensure proper rotation, storage, and labeling for all front end merchandisers
- Maintain department equipment in working order; Advise of equipment repair/replacement needs
- Participate in departmental and store deep cleans, inventory, and special events as requested
- Ensure that the front end department is thematically decorated and that decorations are cleaned and stored appropriately after coming down
- Work a minimum of one MOD/keyholder shift per week
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Front End Manager or Store Manager

**Proficiencies**:

- POS and basic computer knowledge

**Education / Experience**:

- 3+ years serving the public in a customer service role
- 2+ years experience working as a supervisor / manager

**Working conditions**:

- Retail grocery store environment, lifting up to 25 kg
- Active work environment 100% of the time

**Experience**:
