Vancouver Academy Centre, Head Coach

**OBJECTIVE**:
Provide technical leadership and program management for the Vancouver Academy Centre, while supporting the integration of technical standards and processes across the club’s development structure.

**ACCOUNTABILITY**:
The overall accountability for the position is to the Academy Centre Technical Director.

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Leadership**
- Champion Safe Sport practices and work closely with club leadership to foster a positive and enriching culture throughout the Vancouver Academy Centre
- Drive the culture of the club and protect the integrity of the club’s values and cornerstones
- Work with the Academy Centre leadership and technical teams to contribute to the development, growth and freshness of academy centre programming and curriculum
- Work with the leadership team to develop and maintain positive relationships with all community clubs and stakeholders
- Support strategic planning, annual business planning and program development related to the Vancouver Academy Centre

**General Duties**
- Serve as the primary point of contact (internal and external) for all day-to-day Vancouver Academy Centre programming inquiries and business that is of a technical nature
- Work closely with the leadership team and operations team to develop and implement annual training and competition plans for all Academy Centre programming
- Assist with the development, implementation and management of technical policies and procedures
- Work closely with Academy Centre technical team to ensure a streamlined development pathway across all club programming
- Provide technical reporting, and strategic support to the leadership team, as required
- Work with the operations team to ensure all administrative elements of Vancouver Academy Centre programming are executed per club processes and timelines

**Staff Management**
- Provide day-to-day management of all technical staff, and schedule and lead team meetings as required
- Create a professional, respectful and effective working environment that reflects the club’s cornerstones and values
- Work with the Director of Coaching to support the evaluation, development and progression of coaches through the club’s pathway
- Work closely with the operations team to support overall programming
- Schedule appropriate staff for all Academy Centre and Camp programming
- Ensure all staff are properly onboarded prior to working in any program
- Assist in staffing plans, and hiring process of technical staff
- Manage technical staff who cross over into other programs and departments
- Assist with the submission payroll hours for all programming per club processes

**Academy Centre & Camp Programming**
- Planning and Preparation
- Work in collaboration with the technical team to design and implement all on field programming for all Academy Centre programming.
- Assist with the design of team/individual training sessions.
- On-field session delivery
- Develop and manage processes and protocols to ensure that all on field components of academy and camp training sessions are structured and delivered to a high standard.

**Network Partner Program**
- Lead the organization, planning and execution of programming related to technical service agreements that are based out of the Vancouver Academy Centre
- Develop and foster positive relationships with partner clubs and associations

**Talent Identification**
- Support the overarching club Academy Talent ID strategic plan by assisting with the scouting and recruitment of players as related to general academy player pool at club Talent ID Camps and Evaluation Camps
- Work effectively within club’s business tools and communication platforms to file scouting reports as required

**Additional Club Commitments**
- Attend weekly staff meetings as scheduled by members of the club’s leadership team
- Attend special meetings for program related issues as required and scheduled
- Attend public appearances required by the club including, but not limited to:

- Promotional and Sponsorship engagements
- Community events
- Appearances at Summer Camps and special soccer development events
- Whitecaps FC hosted events
- Represent the club in the soccer community, with emphasis on building a positive rapport with community clubs and key stakeholders

**Qualifications/Experience**:
In addition to bringing a commitment to Vancouver Whitecaps FC vision and values, the
- Minimum Canada Soccer/Concacaf B License or international equivalent (Can also be in
the process of receiving).
- Previous leadership experience within a club or academy, including working with club
staff and directly managing, mentoring, and supporting the development of coaches at
all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement the age/stage appropriate player and
coach development standards outlined in Canada Soccer’s LTPD model and Club Licensing framework into academy and club programming.
