Human Resources Assistant

We are seeking a **Human Resources Assistant** to facilitate the daily functions of the Human Resource activities for Nexkemia.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Supports the full cycle recruiting process.
- Process all new hire employment related documents in accordance with established process and provincial legal requirements.
- Conducts and/or facilitates new hire onboarding for both corporate and business unit level.
- Supports the administration of all employee benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, and retirement plan.
- Performs tasks that supports the administration of human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Facilitates employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Processes new hire, employee changes, terminations and other employee actions in the corporate Human Resource Information System (HRIS) according to established HR process. Coordinates with HR Manager for bi-weekly payroll processing.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Ensures compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices to include but not limited to:
- Perform and maintain the Quebec equity program for Nexkemia.
- Facilitates Compliance with Bill 96.
- Ensures all corporate and business unit policies and procedures are followed. Refers to Employee Handbooks, formal HR procedures and HR department processes and guidance documents prior to providing direction or taking action.
- Plans, coordinates and manages social events.
- Maintains confidentiality on all matters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**Education & Experience**:
- 2-3 years related experience.
- Bilingual in French and English.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
