- Offer referrals to other Programs and/or agencies to best meet the support of the individual
- Work toward assisting the clients in maintaining housing to reduce homelessness
- Provide information about other resources and processes, (e.g. Income Assistance), provide support throughout the process and advocate for the client.

**Salary: $27.54 Per hour**

**Job Summary**:
The Homeless Outreach Worker works as a member of the Cedar Strong team providing supportive counseling, advocacy, education, information, life and social skills, and referrals to clients who are seeking services around a variety of social issues that are impacting on them securing and/or maintaining permanent housing.

**Job Duties**:
**Supportive Counselling**:

- **Record Keeping**:

- Document sessions with client, for follow-up and/or follow through, indicating who’s responsible to meet the desired goal.
- Complete assigned administrative duties.
- Brief Program Manager regarding any issues pertaining to the program.
- Maintain client files

**Maintain Environment**:

- Create and maintain a safe, warm, and trusting environment.
- Engage in role modeling of life and social skills to the clients
- Provide mediation for clients in conflict.
- Work cooperatively with other members of the agency team and other community agencies.

**Miscellaneous**:

- Maintain professional boundaries within CEDAR STRONG.
- Abide by CEDAR STRONG. Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Exercise professional boundaries
- Attend weekly staff meetings, staff workshops, and special events.
- Special projects as directed by the Executive Director and/or Program Manager.

**Working Conditions**:

- This position is 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday; the worker has the flexibility to adjust hours to meet the needs of clients.
- This position is based in Hope.

**Education**:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, Crisis Intervention Training or related discipline with three years’ experience or six years combination of education and experience.

**Training**:
Conflict Resolution; Life Skills Training; Crisis and Suicide Intervention Training

PERFORMANCE SKILLS
- The job involves psychological and mental demands in relation to working with individuals who are impacted by social issues.
- The job involves verbal and written communication within the agency staff, Program participants, and with local agencies. Ability to document and relay information in a concise and efficient manner.
- The job involves ethical thinking and making sound judgments. Respectful toward individuals regardless of ethnic, religious, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental ability, is important and is expected. Ability to problem-solve, demonstrate time, organizational, and stress management skills. All Staff will possess Emotional Competences

Pay: $27.54 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
