Hope and Area Transition Society is a nonprofit in Hope BC, serving the Eastern Fraser Valley. The Society has been providing social programs since 1994. The largest nonprofit in the Eastern Region, the agency specializes in providing Domestic Violence, Substance Use, Youth and Family and Homelessness services.

**The Job**:
**Outreach Substance Use Worker **will be responsible for working alongside the Substance Use and Homeless Outreach Teams in providing substance use services this person is motivated and dedicated to working vulnerable individuals. As an Outreach Substance Use Worker, you will play a crucial role in connecting people who are in need of substance use services and treatment, medical and mental wellness services. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact and engage with individuals in need.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct outreach activities to engage with individuals and communities
- Collect data and maintain accurate records of outreach efforts
- Provide administrative support for outreach initiatives
- Knowledge and understanding of the complexities of substance use
- Offer harm reduction supplies
- Offer one-on-one counselling and when necessary offer groups
- Be able to demonstrate professional and personal boundaries
- Be able to work in community with those who are unhoused, precarious housed and present with complex challenges that impact their wellness
- Knowledge of programs, treatment centers, and detox programs within the community and Lower Mainland
- Ability to build community partner relationships
- Knowledge of the Indigenous communities and the impacts that colonization has the Indigenous people
- Understanding and practice of Trauma Informed approach
- Excellent verbal and written communication; efficient time, organizational and stress-management skills
- Educate the public about our organization’s services and resources

**Experience**:

- 2-4 years of Substance Use and/or Outreach experience

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $28.32-$32.51 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
