The location in Montreal, (Quebec, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of **Vice-President, Operations Pulp**. This job is full-time permanent.
**Your challenges**:
The position is responsible for the overall operation, leadership, and management of multiple mill manufacturing plants. The position reports to the SVP Operations of Pulp and Tissue division, and regularly reports on division operations performance to executive leadership. Direct reports to this position include Mill Managers from each of the pulp locations. In addition to overseeing manufacturing operations, this role seeks to optimize performance at each mill in collaboration with the Continuous Improvement team.
**Your responsibilities**:
- Key leader of the Pulp & Tissue Operations team to set direction/vision and strategy to maximize the performance of the organization;
- Passionately Leads Safety - Builds a culture where safety is a value; ensure facilities are following company required safety programs, policies, and practices across all operations;
- Ensure facilities safely follow all environmental rules and best practices to support federal, state, and local laws;
- Helps drive a strong performance management culture and collaborates with leaders to develop and meet key metrics and target;
- Works collaboratively with site leadership to maximize the potential of each assigned site;
- Monitors and tracks the performance of each operating facility;
- Holds facilities accountable for items within their control;
- Actively provides coaching to the facility leader and team;
- Ensures critical support resources are prioritized to support and optimize the assigned sites to maximize performance;
- Aligns manufacturing strategies to support the commercial strategy/approach;
- Maintain consistent operating standards among the assigned sites, including hitting targets in line with customer specifications and meeting quality and delivery expectations;
- Upholds high quality standards in product and employment practices;
- Ensure assigned sites are operating without roadblocks and at optimal costs, support engineering developments and improvements to current processes;
- Plays a critical role in the budgeted process to align with business goals. Provides input in developing Strategic Operating Plans and manages the execution of the plan and the associated budget;
- Ensures the assigned sites meet budgeted financial goals and objectives;
- Partners with HR to retain and develop critical leaders and future talent;
**Your profile**:
- Safety-first mentality
- University degree in Pulp & Paper Science, Engineering, Business, Finance or other related field
- a relevant field
- 15 years of manufacturing experience
- Experience as a vice-president in the manufacturing field
- Well-rounded operations management experience including a deep understanding and experience with operations tactics, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, strategies and best practices
- Strong execution management skills, financial acumen and analytical skills
- Ability to implement change, doing things differently and challenging the status quo
- Interpersonal and strong leadership skills
- Fluency in French considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills
