**Position Overview**
This position is responsible for leading and providing recreation programs through a city-wide integrated program planning approach which supports a variety of service delivery methods from direct delivery through to contract management. This position is a member of the Recreation, Community & Culture Senior Management Team.
**Responsibilities**
Leading a highly-skilled and dynamic team. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Responsible for the day-to-day management of the section, including motivating, training, hiring, and performance management.
- Works as part of the management team for the department to provide guidance and direction in the department’s strategic directions and initiatives. Assumes the duties of the Director on a rotating basis during absences or as directed.
- Leads the city-wide integrated program planning team with responsibility for developing, implementing and managing programs city-wide that efficiently and effectively meets the needs and expectations of customers.
- Oversees the development and implementation of marketing plans and revenue generation initiatives across the department.
- Oversees the department customer services, including program registration, facility booking, park permitting and space allocation of bulk users.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of risk management practices to ensure the safe delivery of programs offered directly by the city or by other organizations with whom the city has a service delivery arrangement.
- Oversees the development of current budgets for assigned areas providing on-going monitoring of expenditures and revenues, advising department management when budget areas are outside tolerance levels. Provides input into the development of the capital budget and forecast as well as performance measures and determination of rates and fees.
- Leads multi-disciplinary teams on a multitude of issues such as program reviews, service delivery reviews, best practices and operational procedures.
- Responds to public, staff and elected officials’ inquiries and complaints, resolving matters including participation in decisions or actions taken; prepares reports for Council approval; represents the department at corporate and community meetings and functions.

**Requirements**:
You have a University degree in Recreation or closely related field. Your education is complemented by a minimum of five years experience of progressively responsible municipal, business or recreation management experience. Demonstrated strategic leadership in decision-making, issue resolution, budget management, process improvements, along with proven analytical, writing and project management skills.

**Salary**: $117,121.00-$146,401.00 per year
