DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an _experienced and hardworking_ **Roller Operator **for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area.

**Responsibilities**:

- Safely operate roller in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling asphalt to desired compaction and smoothness.
- Determine speed and direction of machine, based on knowledge of compaction of material under changing temperatures.
- Able to work with machine in tight areas, and operate without risk.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.

**Qualifications**:

- Operate the roller and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- 2+ years’ experience operating Finish Roller and/or Breakdown Roller
- 3+ years’ experience in Road construction/Paving - **experience** working in **civil construction is considered an asset**:

- _Class 5 Drivers License with Air Brakes and a Clean Driver Abstract is an asset but not required_
- Ability to perform tasks with mínimal supervision
- Good knowledge of City surrounding areas
- Some computer skills needed
- Certifications and/or licenses appropriate to industry
- Reliable transportation and a positive attitude
- Understanding of computerized controls and electronics
- Knowledge of Paving materials, and Paving processes and industry requirements
- Knowledge of Rollers and other heavy equipment

- Road Construction/Paving: 2 years (preferred)
- Roller (Finish/Breakdown): 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driver License (preferred)
