**Job Overview**:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Collaborative Services, the Youth Leadership Program Facilitator is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the Youth Leadership Program. The Youth Leadership Program’s primary goal is to work with young parents to strengthen their leadership skills, enhance their sense of identity and belonging, and support their engagement with the wider community. The program includes delivery of the Peers Educating-Peers program in junior and senior high schools across Edmonton with young parents as co-facilitators, developing and delivering group programming, and connecting participants with volunteer opportunities in the community.

**Job Conditions**:
This is a full-time position working 35 hours/week primarily between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, however hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position and agency. _This may include working occasional evenings and weekends._ The position will be working out of the Braemar School location (9359 67a Street NW), however regular travel to our West Office and Brentwood location will be required.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **The Youth Leadership Facilitator provides coaching, mentorship and skill-building opportunities to Terra participants engaged in the Youth Leadership Program.**_
- Seeks to build supportive and responsive relationships with participants utilizing a trauma-informed and resiliency perspective.
- Develop and deliver group and 1:1 programming to increase leadership skills in participants with a focus on communication, public speaking, self-awareness, self-regulation, and boundaries.
- Works with participants to create personalized leadership goal plans that align with the components of the Youth Leadership program.
- Co-facilitate Peers Educating Peer presentations in junior and senior high schools with Youth Leadership participants.
- Support participants with accessing volunteer activities within and outside of Terra. This includes working with community resources and other Participant Program staff to coordinate scheduling, provide training, and day-of support.
- Engage participants in opportunities to represent Terra internally and within the community.
- **The Youth Leadership Facilitator seeks to improve the knowledge and responsiveness of community institutions, groups, and individuals regarding Terra Centre.**_
- Build awareness of the Peers Educating Peers presentation within Edmonton junior and senior high schools.
- Participate effectively in community and inter-agency functions as a Terra representative.
- Serve as a strong advocate on behalf of Terra and its young parents.
- Seek opportunities for collaboration and other methods of working cooperatively with other community agencies and partners to meet the needs of participants.
- Develop and maintain an effective community referral network and resource base.
- **The Youth Leadership Facilitator ensures professional skills used to provide services and supports to participants reflect best practices by engaging in a process of continuous learning and professional development.**_
- Adhere to Terra’s policies and procedures and to the professional code of ethics of applicable professional associations.
- Contribute to the development of team and agency-wide knowledge and skills.
- Work to build an integrated service team and consult with the team as needed to ensure participant needs are addressed.
- Consult with supervisor as needed to ensure participant needs are addressed.
- Participate in on-going professional development and the performance review process.
- Actively seek opportunities to enhance personal/professional knowledge and skills.
- Learning from and to share knowledge with colleagues.
- Participate in self-evaluation, peer evaluation and volunteer and student evaluation.
- Conduct interaction with participants in a professional manner, maintaining healthy professional boundaries in all participant interactions.
- Expand personal sensitivity and knowledge regarding different cultures.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Services, Education, or Special Education
- Minimum of three (3) years’ direct experience working with adolescents in a community-based service or equivalent experience
- Understanding and knowledge of the issues young people face when pregnant and parenting
- Experience in public speaking, employment readiness training, curriculum development and group facilitation
- Ability to work with families from diverse cultural backgrounds and develop positive, effective, professional rapport and relationships with youth
- Experience and understand the importance of Experiential Learning and different ways to engage youth in programming
