**GROUP HOME WORKER QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized college in Canada and is certified or has substantial equivalency status registration on Alberta’s HCA directory established by Alberta Health
- Specialized training in rehabilitation or direct experience working with seniors, persons with brain injury or mental illness and addiction will be an asset.
- Current certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR
- Certificate verifying satisfactory completion of Medication Administration, if you do not have a HCA certificate
- Has obtained a police information check issued within the last year.
- Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention is an asset
- Be in good physical and emotional health
- One to two years of experience in caring for people living with a disability, chronic illness, mental health and addiction
**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Assist clients to deal with their personal, social and mental health issues
- Assist client’s relevant skill strengths and deficits and assist in the development and implementation of the individual care plan, including the planning and coordination of its various activities.
- Assist clients in locating and utilizing community resources and in the selection and admission of clients to appropriate programs
- Assess clients' relevant skill strengths and deficits and provide input in the development and implementation of individual Care Plan, including the planning and coordination of its various activities.
- Assist clients in locating and utilizing community resources and in the selection and admission of clients to appropriate programs.
- Provide personal care, medication assistance, informal mental health support and physical therapy for the clients.
- General housekeeping and ensuring that the home is orderly and properly maintained.
- Assure that the clients' basic needs for food, clothing and health care etc. are met adequately.
- Build and maintain meaningful, constructive involvement with clients on a mutually comfortable basis by being consistent, reliable and approachable.
- Demonstrate respect for the clients by attending, listening and responding appropriately.
- Actively participate in daily routines and provide direction for clients to meet routine expectations according to their functioning levels.
- Maintain a safe, secure environment and ensure it is clean, orderly and properly maintained.
- Act as a liaison with agencies, managers, staff, families and clients to maintain effective communication, direction and problem solving in Residential Programs.
- Support the clients to obtain routine and emergency medical care from physician/hospital if and when necessary.
- Maintain all residential records, client care activities and incidents, log summaries
- Conduct group meetings with residents

- Proof of current HCA registration on Alberta registry ( HCA number)
- HCA certificate from a Canadian College
- Medication Administration certificate if you are deemed substantially equivalent or deemed competent on HCA directory

- Trained in AHS Environmental Food Handling Course (an asset)
