Reporting directly to the Director, Francophone Affairs, the incumbent liaises with a variety of Francophone stakeholders, including groups, organizations, institutions and communities to engage them in various education programs, initiatives and activities within the University. The Coordinator champions collaborations between Francophone communities, teaching faculty and NOSM University with a focus to initiate new relationships as well as maintain ongoing collaborations. The Coordinator supports NOSM University’s Francophone and Francophile graduates to navigate the Francophone learning pathway to acquire faculty status as well as obtain pertinent professional development training relating to Francophone Health including the Active Offer. In addition, the Coordinator supports the implementation, promotion and understanding of the University’s Social Accountability Mandate. The Coordinator also acts as an ambassador for NOSM University learners, staff and faculty.

Sous la direction de la directrice des Affaires francophones, la ou le titulaire du poste assure la liaison avec diverses parties concernées francophones, y compris des groupes, des organismes, des établissements et des communautés pour les engager dans divers programmes d’éducation, initiatives et activités de l’Université. Cette personne prône les collaborations entre les communautés francophones, le corps professoral et l’Université de l’EMNO afin de forger de nouvelles relations et de préserver les collaborations en cours. Elle aide les diplômées et diplômés francophones et francophiles de l’Université de l’EMNO à naviguer dans le parcours d’apprentissage en français afin de se joindre au corps professoral et de suivre le perfectionnement professionnel pertinent concernant la santé des francophones, y compris sur l’offre active. En outre, elle appuie la mise en œuvre, la promotion et la compréhension du mandat de responsabilité sociale de l’Université de l’EMNO et agit comme ambassadeur de la population étudiante, du personnel et du corps professoral de l’Université.
Ce poste est régi par la convention collective de la section locale 677 (Unité 2) du SEFPO qui se trouve sur le site Web de l’Université de l’EMNO.
**Responsibilities**:
- Assists the Director in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships, partnerships and initiatives with Francophone communities, health organizations and health professionals (including educational opportunities, and medical and health sciences student placement opportunities).
- Assists the Director in liaising with Northern Ontario Francophone Community Leaders to meet placement capacity requirements for the Voie vers la médecine en français (VMF)/Francophone Curricular Initiative (FCI) as well as other core community placements such as the Early Clinical Placements in Modules 108 and 110 as well as the CCC.
- Acts as main point of contact for community leaders, medical and health care staff to discuss the details of placement opportunities, faculty recruitment opportunities.
- Works collaboratively with other units/portfolios so as to engage Francophone communities, organizations and associations to discuss and advance Pathways to NOSM University.
- Acts as NOSM U/FrAU representative when visiting various northern Francophone communities for the purposes of recruitment, retention and ongoing community engagement.
- Assists the FrAU team in the coordination, planning and implementation of NOSM University related Francophone community events throughout Northern Ontario (conferences, presentations, recruitment fairs, etc.), as applicable.
- Assists the Director in developing and facilitating the necessary programming (presentations, interactive sessions), policies, procedures for delivery of relevant and responsive initiatives in support of Francophone health and culture priorities to varied audiences (i.e., staff, faculty, community partners, health professionals, etc.) including the VMF/FCI.
- Assists the Director in developing and facilitating necessary cultural orientation sessions, awareness groups, and/or programming for NOSM University’s faculty and staff, provide information and educational sessions related to diversity and the development of increased cultural safety and seek out opportunities to enhance awareness, knowledge and learning about Francophone health and culture internally and externally to NOSM University, including the Active Offer and French language services rights in Ontario.
- Collaborates with the Communications team, as requested by the Director, to determine marketing objectives and determines content in French for the University’s website.
