We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with a passion for helping people achieve their goals through higher education. Domestic Recruitment Specialists work with prospective students, applicants, parents, high school counsellors, other members of the Registrar’s Office, the Nîsôhkamâtotân Centre, academic staff in all NAIT Schools and programs, other NAIT departments (e.g., Conference and Event Services), and more. This role is varied, fast-paced, and people-focused. The ability to connect with others and build relationships is paramount.
Domestic Recruitment Specialists promote NAIT degree, diploma, and certificate programs to domestic stakeholders through a variety of channels. Domestic students are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and refugees; please note the Domestic team does not conduct any recruitment activities for international students. Our stakeholders include prospective students, applicants, parents and guardians, as well as staff at Canadian high schools and community organizations. We work with a diverse audience of high school students, newcomers to Canada, mature students, and transfer students, and each group has unique perspectives, challenges, and interests.
Applicants should understand the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and be able to articulate their importance for the post-secondary sector broadly and domestic recruitment specifically. Experience with EDI initiatives is an asset. NAIT has a diverse student body, and the Domestic Recruitment team strives to ensure all prospective students feel welcome and supported.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop an evidence-based annual recruitment plan for assigned region(s) and NAIT academic School(s), in alignment with the SEM plan and strategic goals
- Set targets collaboratively with the Manager of Domestic Recruitment and be accountable for meeting the agreed-upon targets
- Take an agile approach to plans and targets, monitoring progress throughout the recruitment cycle and adapting as needed
- Represent NAIT at events such as career fairs and the Educational Liaison Association of Alberta (ELAA) recruitment circuit
- Respond to a high volume of questions and inquiries from prospects, families, schools, and community organizations
- Travel to schools in Alberta and neighbouring provinces to deliver presentations, cultivate relationships, and promote NAIT
- Establish** **yearly travel plans and manage travel bookings
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of events, leads, expenses, overtime, and promotional merchandise
- Host campus visits and arrange hands-on learning activities for high school and junior high students
- Book and lead campus tours
- Plan and execute individual recruitment events both on
- and off-campus
- Conduct one-on-one advising sessions for prospective students
- Work with Conference & Event Services alongside the Manager of Domestic Recruitment to organize large recruitment events such as Open House and Program Previews
- Assist in coordinating and training event volunteers, Casual staff, and new recruiters as needed
- Complete administrative tasks as required (e.g., submit print requests, sort and organize signage and other materials in storage, arrange shipping and deliveries, collect completed orders from other campus services, count T-shirts and promotional merchandise)
- Coordinate with partner departments such as Admissions, the Nîsôhkamâtotân Centre, Prospect & Application Relationship, and Marketing to create an exceptional prospect and applicant experience (e.g., outreach campaigns, applicant support, input on Viewbooks and other collateral)
- Build strong partnerships with Schools, engage academic staff in recruitment activities, and generate excitement for recruitment events
- Maintain a detailed understanding of NAIT programs, services, administrative processes, and student life
- Create and update Domestic Recruitment documentation and resources
- Enter and maintain records in the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Keep abreast of trends in SEM and post-secondary recruitment across Canada
- Identify opportunities for growth and continuous improvement
- Be willing to make ambitious recommendations, take informed risks, and spearhead new ways of doing things
