**Nature**: Permanent - 30 hours a week

**Role Summary**:
The Youth Development Facilitator works with a diverse group of complex youth to teach them the skills necessary to secure and maintain employment or community attachment. The Facilitator accomplishes this by developing respectful and collaborative relationships with youth, conducting needs assessments to understand each youth individually, and identifying issues that are preventing them from achieving their education/vocational goals. The Facilitator will be responsible for developing and delivering program content based on the needs and assessments of its participants. The Youth Development facilitator will identify individual-specific goals, create new curriculum content, adapt existing resources to current participants, and use creative and innovative approaches to content delivery.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Develop curriculum in the areas of self-development and educational and vocational readiness skills.
- Facilitate program: including classroom instruction, one-on-one instruction, outreach-basis, and outings in the community.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify needs/goals and develop individualized plans.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of individualized plans by regularly monitoring progress towards goals and making necessary adjustments.
- Foster community connections to facilitate referrals, volunteering, and pre-employment practicum placements.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
- Maintain accurate documentation.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree
- a combination of education, career development, human resources or social work, child and youth care experience will be considered
- Recent successful teaching experience and/or training preferred.
- Demonstrated interest and experience working with individuals with mental health, developmental disabilities, and/or behavioral challenges is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- MANDT training or other conflict mediation training is an asset
- Ability to work from an attachment based theoretical approach
- Comprehensive understanding of community resources or services to support youths’ needs

**Job Skills and Abilities**:

- Able to establish and maintain productive relationships with at risk youth
- Trauma informed
- Familiar working with youth with complex needs such as mental health addictions and developmental disabilities
- Skilled at assessing personal characteristics (interests, values, aptitude, personality traits); learning style; vocational identity; conditions of the work environment (tasks, expectations, norms, and qualities of the physical and social settings); as well as career development learning needs
- Uses coaching techniques appropriate to the client’s goals, skills and needs
- Take a creative approach to facilitating lessons to youth
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Proven ability to conduct needs assessments, develop timely and effective action plans, and maintain youth engagement to achieve employment goals
- Demonstrated ability to manage youth information and effectively document the process while working with a caseload of youth
- Demonstrated ability to self-manage a complex and flexible work schedule

**Job Type**: Permanent

Pay: $31.52 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
