**Job Purpose**

Thrive Youth Development Canada is a registered charity that empowers underserved young people ages 9 to 18 to become leaders. We provide creative, arts-based leadership programs for children and youth facing barriers such as poverty, discrimination, and challenging home environments. We believe that every young person has the potential to lead, and our programs provide a critical intervention for those who may not otherwise see themselves in that role.

We are seeking a full-time camp counsellor to join our team to support the delivery of our summer day camp programs in and around Surrey for youth ages 9 to 16. This position is a six week contract that begins on July 4, 2025 and concludes on August 15, 2025.

**Tasks & Responsibilities**

As a Thrive Youth Camp Counsellor, you will play a vital role in the successful delivery of our daytime summer programs for children and youth in Surrey. You will work closely with the Thrive Youth team to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where participants can learn, grow, and thrive. This role requires energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with young people. Key responsibilities include:
**Program Delivery**:

- Co-facilitate daily program activities based on the established curriculum, ensuring engaging and age-appropriate delivery.
- Adapt program content and delivery style to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of participants.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, promoting positive interactions and conflict resolution.
- Supervise participants during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

**Youth Engagement**:

- Build positive relationships with participants, acting as a mentor and role model.
- Encourage active participation, teamwork, and leadership among youth.
- Identify and address individual needs or challenges faced by participants, escalating concerns to the Regional Manager as needed.

**Administrative Support**:

- Assist with program set-up and clean-up daily.
- Prepare program materials and resources as required.
- Assist with developing lesson plans in alignment with established curriculum.
- Collect and organize program evaluation data, including attendance records and participant feedback.
- Assist with writing program reports summarizing activities, outcomes, and observations.

Community Collaboration:

- Support the coordination and facilitation of workshops and activities led by local guest artists and mentors.
- Assist with building and maintaining relationships with community partners.

Documentation and Communication:

- Capture photos and videos of program activities (ensuring adherence to media consent policies).
- Assist with maintaining program records and updating online platforms.
- Communicate effectively with Thrive Youth team members, providing regular updates and feedback.

**Other Duties**:

- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Assist with other program-related tasks as assigned by the Regional Manager and/or Director of Programs & Impact.

**Working Conditions**

This is a full-time contract position for six weeks, starting on July 4 and concluding on August 15, 2025.

Pay: $17.85 per hour
