**Job Overview**:
The primary responsibilities of the HSE Advisor are to implement all health and safety programs and provide appropriate recommendations and effective monitoring of every active jobsite. The HSE Advisor is responsible for maintaining COR certification and for ensuring company meets OH&S regulatory requirements and employment standards set by government authorities.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Keep up to date and ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation. Recommend procedures and equipment to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and client requirements.
- Maintain health and safety policies and programs, client requirements and company standards. Promote safe work practices and injury prevention activities.
- Coordinate and communicate external training schedules. Support/deliver internal training needs and onboarding orientation sessions as appropriate. Mentor site safety reps, supervisors and workers.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of safety notifications, bulletins, and newsletters. Maintain an open-door communication standard with all workers, allowing for easy two-way communication.
- Support HSE Admin with Data entry and maintenance of various H&S data base systems (ISN, Avetta, Comply Works, CQ Network, Contractor Check); training matrices, incident/injury trackers, SiteDocs apps, etc.
- Investigate all incidents, assign appropriate corrective actions, and track compliance.
- Conduct effective claims management and mentor appropriate return to work expectations and standards.
- Facilitate safety meetings, employee safety committees and programs.
- Monitor and track all subcontractors to ensure compliance.
- Carry out risk assessments, site safety plans and site inspections.
- Conduct internal COR audits and facilitate external COR audits.
**Qualifications/Requirements**:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Health and Safety. Construction experience considered an asset.
- NCSO designation required. OHS certificate considered an asset.
- Able to travel regularly, including overnight. (70% field/30% office)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Comfortable working with Mac.
- Familiar with SiteDocs
- Familiar with COR
