**About CJNU**
CJNU is Winnipeg’s English language community licenced radio station - dedicated to accentuating the positive. We work closely with fellow non-profits, charities, arts and cultural organizations, community groups, and small local businesses, to shine a light on the good things happening in our community - choosing to share our platform with as many as possible, and work hard to amplify the voices of others to help tell their stories.
We are a not-for-profit, community service co-operative, incorporated under the Manitoba Cooperatives Act - governed by a board of directors with a mix of persons from media, business and broader community backgrounds. As a CRTC licensed broadcaster, we are a federally regulated employer.
Roughly a third of our funding each year is from ‘direct listener support’ - through membership in our co-op, contributions to the station made during our annual Pledge Drive, or through fundraising events. The remaining two-thirds of our revenue is generated through sponsorships, partnerships, and advertising. We do not receive any regular funding from government, or from other funding bodies.
CJNU is powered almost exclusively by volunteers - with over 130 people (and counting) involved in keeping the radio station on the air - supported by a small team of staff, which we hope you're interested in joining, in the role of Communications Coordinator
**Role and Responsibilities**
The Communications Coordinator either leads, or is involved in, all aspects of internal and external communications, at CJNU - in service of our volunteers, staff, co-op members, clients, and listeners.
Working closely with the Station Manager and the Administrative and Operations Coordinator, and liaising regularly with the Marketing and Development Manager, Account Executives, Production Team, Volunteer Coordinator, and various staff and board level committees, the Communications Coordinator will be expected to perform a variety of tasks specific to the role, and additional tasks dependent upon project deadlines in the CJNU office. These tasks include:
**A. Website**
1. Serves as the webmaster for the CJNU website
2. Maintains and updates the website
3. Schedules the addition/removal of both CJNU and client-related content from the website
4. Creates and manages audio playlists
5. Creates and manages CJNU specific content for the website
6. Basic website troubleshooting
7. Liaises with the Technology Coordinator (or designate) on larger website issues
**B. Social Media**
8. Serves as the Social Media Manager for CJNU across all platforms
9. Responds to enquiries from the public via social platforms
10. Creates new content, and adapts existing content, for use via social platforms
11. Schedules posts across platforms
12. Attends events on behalf of CJNU to gather content for social media
13. Serves as part of the team that manages CJNU mailing/contact lists - co-op members, donors, ‘friends’, volunteers, clients, partners, etc.
14. Creates, coordinates and distributes mailshots
**D. Newsletter**
16. Serves as the coordinator for monthly newsletter production
17. Liaises with CJNU clients for content
18. Liaises with CJNU staff and volunteers for content
19. Liaises with the Editor and Designer to ensure timely production, publication and distribution
20. Coordinates a limited monthly print run of the newsletter
**E. Senior Scope**
21. Gathers existing content from the newsletter to be adapted for a monthly insert in Senior Scope
22. Works on layout for the page/half page
23. Submits to Senior Scope for publication
**F. Contesting/Prize Draws**
24. Manages all contests and draws, whether on-air or off-air, at CJNU
25. Handles distribution of tickets/prizes, whether physical or digital
26. Communicates with CJNU volunteers about upcoming contests, and their roles and responsibilities
27. Maintains a record of who has won what, and when
**G. Membership**
28. Serves as the primary contact person within the CJNU office responsible for co-op membership
29. Liaises with the Membership Committee, Membership Coordinator, and any others involved in the operation of the CJNU membership program
**H. Community Service Announcements**
30. Serves as the coordinator for CSAs
31. Receives requests from organizations and vets them for suitability
32. Edits content as needed
33. Uploads CSAs to a shared folder accessible to volunteers
34. Maintains the CSA log
35. Generates reports/gathers statistics from the CSA log
**I. Operations Committee**
36. Serves as a key member of the Operations Committee
37. Schedules the weekly Ops meeting
38. Creates and updates the weekly meeting agenda
39. Takes notes during the Ops meeting
40. Creates a list of action points following the meeting, with all tasks to be assigned
41. Leads the review of existing actions at the start of each meeting
**J. Front of House/Office Administrative Duties**
