**Foreman - Pipe Fabrication**

**Reports to**:
Shop Superintendent

**Job Purpose**

The Piping Foreman plays a vital role in ensuring that the day-to-day HSE & Production requirements of the business runs safely & efficiently. They are responsible for managing the day to day requirements related to piping.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Ensuring crews are trained and operating in accordance to our Health Safety and Environment (HSE) program and Safe Work Practices (SWP)
- Ensure workers are competent
- Finalize Competency forms
- Disciplinary write ups and dismissals
- Ensure all required safety inspections have been completed
- Investigations as per HSE/Accidents/Incidents
- Active participation in safety & morning tail gate meetings
- Ensure crafts complete and sign START cards and gather cards at end of day (tools, hazards, preventative measures, etc)
- Directing skid-steer operator on snow removal and spreading of buck shot
- End of Day Safety responsibilities
- Ensuring propane bottles are removed from shop at end of day and turned off
- Ensuring Oxy/Ace bottles are off and purged
- Ensure no worker (employee or contractor) starts work without verifying orientation and training requirements have been met
- Ensure corrective actions, as assigned, are completed within a timely manner;
- Take all precautions necessary to protect the health and safety of every worker under the supervisor’s supervision
- Ensure that a worker under their supervision works in the manner and in accordance with the procedures and measures required by the OHS Act, Regulations and Code
- Ensure that every worker under their supervision uses all hazard controls
- Advise every worker under their supervision of all known or reasonably foreseeable hazards to health and safety in the area where the worker is performing work
- Report to the employer a concern about an unsafe or harmful work site act that occurs or has occurred or an unsafe or harmful work site condition that exists or has existed
- Set a standard of performance and behaviour
- Ensure training needs are identified and met
- Correct unsafe practices or conditions
- Ensure workers are trained and competent to perform their job safely
- Ensure workers are actively participating in their responsibilities within the health and safety management system, such as forms completion, training, reporting, etc.
- Enforce health and safety standards and positively reinforce good behaviour;
- Conduct or participate in inspections, tours, observations, etc. as outlined for your position
- Ensure incidents are reported, participate in the investigations and that corrective actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence
- Manage labor force to ensure garbage’s are emptied
- Manage work force on daily housekeeping (Ex. Dunnage, Tripping hazards)
- Access and egress to buildings are cleared of debris
- Ensure fitting and welding areas are cleaned up and organized as you go
- Anticipating and tracking the daily production completed
- Managing manpower requirements to meet schedule demand
- Review production and backlog report
- Ensuring spools released to the floor are completed in a timely manner (ex. Monitor spool tracking)
- Ensuring the shop is fabricating to priorities set by the Superintendent
- Releasing IFC drawings to fitters
- Verify fitting measurements prior to cutting pipe
- Generating hydro packs
- Initial take off for RFI’s
- Ensure all rework is completed on a timely manner, tracked and trended
- Notifying of extra work/extended work day
- Set up work areas and staging for position welds
- Communicate priorities to create a smooth workflow
- Make sure welding rod storage and control is strictly adhered to by all shop employees
- Contacting 3rd parties to assist in repairs and maintenance
- Problem solve welding issues on the floor in a timely manner so as too not interrupt workflow
- Organize with other departments within the company to help maintain schedule
- Help with equipment rentals/purchases for each specific job when needed
- Help job planning (hydro plans, work plan locations, manpower needed etc.)
- Approve each welder on a case by case basis whether the welder can perform production welds in compliance with Academy Welding Procedures (WPS)
- Make sure all shop welders have tools and equipment to perform the welds in accordance to the procedures and spec requirements

- Work with shop Foreman to implement more Sub arc and automatic welding production
- Champion role of the Weld Repair remediation Plan

- Allocate daily tasks according to skill sets
