**Position**
With the guidance of the Director of the BA (Criminology) Program, and reporting to the Assistant Academic Department Manager, the Placement Coordinator manages the day to day operations of the BA (Criminology) degree program for all students, including the field placement component. The field placement component involves all aspects of the student life cycle in the program from recruitment and meeting with prospective students, coordinating and maintaining the work placement stream processes, advising on program and academic related matters, and liaising with community partners.
**Duties**
- Advises all students in the BA (Criminology) program on all matters related to their program and refers students to other areas on campus as needed.
- Organizes and facilitates the evening seminars for the field placement stream.
- Liaises between field placement students and community partners to arrange field placements. Facilitates documentation required for the field placement.
- First point of contact for students while on their field placement.
- Builds and maintains relationships with community agencies, and is the primary point of contact for anything that comes up during the work experience.
- Assists and advises new and current students on program related issues such as course requirements, registration, required forms and other related documentation.
- Monitors student progress to resolve timetabling conflicts, identify course deficiencies, and ensures students are aware of the program, Faculty, and University regulations.
- Works with the division Information and Outreach Coordinator to update the website and other program related materials.
- Coordinates and attends a number of events throughout the year (e.g. Orientation for new students, Orientation for field placement students, Open House, and other recruitment functions).
**Minimum Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Superior time management skills - ability to prioritize and provide timely and efficient service.
- Knowledge of agencies related to the Criminal Justice System.
- Experience advising students, particularly students with experiential learning as part of their program.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
- Some evening work will be required; some weekend work may be required.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline. MA is preferred.
- Experience with student systems used at the University of Alberta.
