Job Purpose
The Student Placement Coordinator, under general supervision, coordinates program efforts to promote full use of career services by students at each campus. The Student Placement Coordinator support students and alumni to identify and achieve students’ career and employment goals. They help them to identify their values, needs and skills and use this information to seek out, engage in, and extract meaning from a wide variety of experiences.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
**Placement Coordination**:
- Liaise with academic departments to understand students' placement requirements and objectives.
- Research and establish partnerships with external organizations to create placement opportunities for students.
- Coordinate the placement process, including matching students with suitable placements, managing placement agreements, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
**Student Support**:
- Provide guidance and support to students throughout the placement process, including resume preparation, interview coaching, and orientation to placement expectations.
- Conduct individual consultations with students to assess their interests, skills, and career goals, and align them with appropriate placement opportunities.
- Address students' concerns, questions, and challenges related to placements, and offer solutions and resources for resolution.
**Relationship Management**:
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners, including businesses, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and industry associations, to facilitate placement opportunities for students.
- Collaborate with employers to understand their needs and expectations for student placements and ensure a mutually beneficial partnership.
- Attend networking events, career fairs, and industry meetings to promote placement opportunities and establish new partnerships.
**Program Development**:
- Assist in the development and enhancement of placement programs, policies, and procedures to meet the evolving needs of students and external partners.
- Identify trends and best practices in student placements and recommend strategies for program improvement and innovation.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate placement experiences into academic curricula and ensure alignment with learning outcomes.
**Documentation and Evaluation**:
- Maintain accurate records of student placements, including placement agreements, student evaluations, and feedback from external partners.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of placement programs through surveys, assessments, and feedback mechanisms, and implement changes as needed to improve outcomes.
- Prepare reports on placement activities, outcomes, and trends for internal stakeholders, including administrators, faculty, and accreditation bodies.
