Recovery House Manager

The role of the house manager is to:
- Assist residents in their recovery journey by providing support in daily activities and emotional well-being.
- Ensuring the house is orderly, monitoring resident activities to ensure compliance with house rules, and recognizing and addressing any concerning behavior immediately.
- Supervising meal times.
- Conducting random drug screens and room searches as necessary.
- Helping new residents familiarize themselves with Walden House policies and routines and making them feel welcome
- Communicating with family and friends if consent is provided by the resident for them to do so
- Assisting residents in the transition out of Walden House
- Organizing and posting weekly recreational schedule and programming schedule.
- Supporting each resident to create their personal support plan
- Doing daily check-ins with each resident
- Keeping resident records updated
- Support residents in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and advocating for their own needs.
- Facilitating cultural activities in-house
- Taking residents to community activities such as community cultural events, or recreational/social activities
- Serve as a resource for residents, providing information and guidance on available community resources.
- Arranging and documenting all emergency drills
- Ensuring that the emergency kits and emergency supplies are always fully stocked
- Documenting and reporting all incidents
- Overseeing maintenance of the home and notifying the Operator if there are any concerns
- The House Manager reports directly to the Operator. If the house manager position is vacant, the Operator will be responsible for the above duties.House Manager Qualifications, Skills and Certifications
- Knowledge of Recovery Programs: Working knowledge of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong sense of self, and own boundaries
- Current CPR and First Aid Training
- Naltrexone kit training
- Opioid overdose response training
- FOODSAFE Certificate
- Criminal record check for vulnerable personals, completed through the criminal records review program
- Character references
- Conflict Resolution Skills: Training in conflict resolution and effective communication. (preferred but not required)
- Leadership training (preferred but not required)
- Diploma in Mental Health and Substance Use, Registered Clinical Counsellor or equivalent experience or training (preferred but not required)
- Courses on working with from a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and indigenous perspective. (preferred but not required)
- Suicide awareness and prevention (preferred but not required)
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Flexible language requirement:
- French not required
