**Position Overview**:
The Field Service Technician assesses and completes service work on mobility and other home health equipment sold by the Company, primarily off-site in residential settings. The Field Service Technician plays a key role in customer relationship management and Company sales whether they generalize in mechanical repair or specialize in quoting and installation of stairlifts and other home modification equipment. The Field Service Technician works predominately independently and is a physically demanding position.

**Required Skills & Abilities**:

- Basic competency in residential trades with an emphasis on carpentry and finishing (rudimentary understanding of plumbing and electrical may be an asset).
- Basic competency in understanding technical drawings and schematics.

- Ability to analyze and solve problems independently.
- Good computer skills and ability to learn new technology.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- Ability to safely meet the physical requirements of the job.
**Required Education & Experience**:
- Highschool diploma strongly preferred.
- Experience building, diagnosing issues with, and repairing medical equipment such as wheelchairs, power mobility scooters, and electric hospital beds is an asset.
- Working knowledge of and practical experience with hand and power tools.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and proof of clean driving abstract and criminal record check.
- Valid Standard First Aid certificate is an asset.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Independently managing assigned service tasks on and off retail premises, optimizing department turnaround times in collaboration with department personnel, and providing excellent customer support to build brand loyalty.
- Maintaining the product knowledge required to upsell, restore, or preserve functionality and safety of rollators, lift chairs, hospital beds, and power mobility products sold by the Company, via independent study and in collaboration with product vendors.
- Maintaining large product and home modification certification offered by the Company and its vendors.
- Compassionately qualifying and understanding customers’ needs to identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell appropriate products and services and collaborating with personnel in other departments to fulfill new orders.
- Creating, documenting, and obtaining customer approval of quotes and work orders, maintaining accurate electronic parts, service, and customer records in Company software, and collecting payment as required.
- Maintaining knowledge of relevant third-party funding, as well as other products, services, and promotions offered by the Company.
- Maintaining inventory of parts, tools, and materials required for installation, purchasing and submitting itemized prior-approved expenses to the Sales Manager.
- Loading, unloading, operating, securing, and regularly inspecting and cleaning, a Class 5 Vehicle in accordance with the _Alberta Traffic Safety Act _and Healthcare Solution’s Company Policies.
- Collaborating with cross-department and cross-location personnel to foster a results-oriented team culture that creates a superior customer experience through both team and individual efforts.
**Per Job Duty Subset**:
- Completing specialized off-site vendor training for home modification solutions offered by the Company _(may require national or international travel)._
- Assessing residential sites for home modification opportunities to improve clients’ safety and mobility, independently or in collaboration with health professionals, and documenting proposed work orders.
- Independently executing the construction and installation of home modification solutions such as mobility ramps and stair lifts.
**Health & Safety**:
- Contributing to worksite safety by maintaining worksite cleanliness, keeping aisles and exits clear, maintaining training and equipment maintenance documentation, and modeling safe behavior.
- Complying with the Company’s Occupational Health & Safety and other Policies & Procedures and being an active part of a safety-focused worksite culture.
- Safely lifting up to 50 lbs independently, heavier with appropriate assistance.
