Head Skating Instructor

The Rinx is home to 4 NHL quality ice pads and is currently seeking passionate individuals with a love of skating for this position. This position is focused on helping individuals Ages 3 to 12 develop fundamental skating skills in a fun and safe environment. This position is Year-Round, with the possibly for assisting with additional seasonal programs.
**Core responsibilities include**:
- Communicate with parents and provide students with feedback
- Can provide and perform a Learn to Skate curriculum
- Ensure general program readiness including equipment lists, lesson plans, games and activities for a range of abilities
- Implement a variety of techniques for students to develop basic fundamental skating skills
- Responsible for the safety and progressive instruction of Learn to Skate programs based on the objectives of the specific programs as well as Long Term Athlete Development Model/Sport for Life
- Evaluate children’s abilities and maintain records of the skills of skaters
- Compliant with program policies and procedures (attendance, report cards, radios, first aid, etc)
**Qualifications and skills for this role include**:
- A love of children
- Exceptional customer service interactions
- Background and knowledge in skating is required. Additional knowledge in Hockey or Figure Skating is an asset
- Experience delivering high quality, progressive skating instruction to children ages 3 to 12 is preferred
- Optimistic, passionate and personable
- Responsible and dependable
- Valid standard First Aid Certificate is required or willingness to complete this course.
- Completion of, or in progress of completing the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is an asset
**Work Hours**:Must be available for the following:
- Spring/Summer
- 3-6 hours per week
- Fall/Winter
- 5-10 hours per week
